Washington has earned involuntary membership to my support group. One of us, one of us.

UW's bizarro mojo to pull out the match no matter what may be running out.

Dang! Not too excited we only hit 20.5% but Marin tied for the kills leader with Claire.

Well, exciting match, for sure. Lots of credit to Utah, they looked like the strongest team in the last four sets, but Washington didn't give in and had their chances. 16-14, what can you really say?
Ultimately, too much Drews.

Ultimately, too much Drews. I felt like Drews not being her usual dominant self was the biggest reason for the loss to BYU. She’s just as important to Utah as Samedy is to Minnesota. I feel like she’s upped her game this year, too. I love watching her play.

I personally have zero interest in seeing Drews in the second round of the tournament, so I hope that Utah continues to do well in the Pac-12, both for that reason and also to bolster BYU's resume, which was a little light in non-conference.

It was so great to be back at a match in person even if the Huskies couldn't pull out the win. Seems like it was move in this week so lots of Freshman in the student section - I feel like this match is a great first experience with UW Volleyball for new students even if UW couldn't eke out the win. There was a point where it seemed like Grote went 6/6 in a row on the slide; I am really impressed with the growth of her offensive game. This was my first time seeing Drews play in person and wow... she is incredible, just hangs in the air and made the most of the rougher sets she got. Crenshaw and Dreschel had some great serving runs to pull the Huskies back in after they had dug those huge holes but it felt like both struggled defensively. Crenshaw overpassing that free ball was just... painful. Communication seems to be an issue; one play we could hear Crenshaw calling for the ball and Endsley still went for it resulting in them bumping it under the net. Madi did have a couple great stabs that kept the ball up and Calle was hyped on the bench. Hopefully the floor defense improves over the season and we find at least one player who can read and pick up tips and setter dumps. Overall a loss that didn't feel too bad because it felt so good to be back with some energy in Hec Ed!
