This was a nice, consistent, and focused win. so much so that I fell asleep. I prefer being lulled to sleep than some of our comeback anxiety inducing wins. I’ll take it. Especially at Rice

I don’t mind it being so lopsided from a win loss perspective, but I don’t really learn much. I like seeing rallies and both teams scoring off their serve rotation (not necessarily the serve itself). When it’s simply both sides trading side outs, like it was for most of the A&M game, that’s what I hate most. Especially when there aren’t any rallies. As big of a blowout as the Rice sweep was, there were more rallies in that one than against the Aggies. My favorite Big 12 seasons have been when there’s another Final Four caliber team in conference, like Nebraska back in the day, the KU for a few years, and now Baylor. I wish there were more. Maybe we’ll see more of that with Florida and Kentucky in the SEC.

I more meant after two 5 set losses to Rice that literally drive my blood pressure through the roof, a routine clean win was great to see. I agree with you, I love watching Texas play challenging matches In the Big12 and come out on top. But I’m happy to leave Houston with a W the way we did

I definitely misunderstood and couldn’t agree with you more. That’s on me.

But it wasn’t though, I asked a question and he gave a false answer, and I never said “woahhh SKT got twenty blocks tonight when has Jhenna ever done that?” did I? I was talking about that block in particular.. Anything else?🤨 Lol pretty sure you said when was the last time we ever seen a Texas setter straight down/stuff block someone, implying that the starting setter, Jhenna Gabriel, doesnt get any stuff blocks…but ok i guess Jhenna never has…not like there’s any infamous video evidence or anything… Most of her blocks aren’t stuff blocks though?🤨 and I hope you’re not referring to a joust as a block? So like I said where are all the videos highlights of Jhenna getting all these stuff blocks?

The famous one is where she blocked someone and then turned around and had that "look". I didn't go back far enough to find it cause I'm lazy.

This just in, but Texas is really good. Even more impressive in person. So big, so quick, so deep.

Texas was clearly: "Remember that match last year? We do."

This just in, but Texas is really good. Even more impressive in person. So big, so quick, so deep. It was such a discrepancy in so many things: skill level, physical attributes, poise, and chemistry. Rice is definitely down from last year. Coach Volpe tried 3 or 4 OH's. The Texas serve was so much better than in past years. They attacked Rice on the serve and rice crumbled. The hitters had 2 and 3 shots that scored. Rice struggled to get by the block even getting stuffed on a sneaky try by the Rice Setter. Skylar showed great poise. I left very impressed. I did think the back row struggled on weak attacks (my judgement-but im not playing). I think they can grow in keeping those balls more in system so that 2 or 3 hitters can be set as opposed to one choice.

Even though they were 8-0 with solid wins against USD, UM and Stanford we know it wasn’t on all cylinders. Last night looked like it’s starting to, hopefully they keep that momentum up.

We'll see, nellynel. I still wonder how much of that was Rice. That's a confused volleyball team right now. Good on Texas for dispatching them so efficiently. Let's keep it up!

That’s true but I think the serve had a lot to do with that. Rice has weapons but when your out of system constantly that happens. Lots of area for improvement but they looked like they are starting to bring into another gear. Just need to keep improving

Texas has had historically poor passing to the point where our hitters are just used to having to hit OOS. Getting a ball bumped 30 ft up in the air from off court to some area around the left pin? Yeah, Logan will hit that!

Yeah, Logan will hit that! I personally would like to see them cover the tip better. I don’t know if they are being coached, it’s instant reflex or they they don’t trust the back row to come up and cover the tip but I cringe every time Butler and O’Neal jump to block, force the tip then swing their arm out trying to catch it only to hit it into the deck. I’m not a coach but I would think once you forced the tip your back row has to cover. Then you prepare to receive or contact the tip reception.
