Also, that was such a horrible double call on Iosia from the ref. Hate to see that call so early in the match as it sets a precedent going forward.

LOL ievb is the same poster who wondered in a prior post on the Texas thread if Parra, being a Mexican national, was put off by "having to" live "in a place like Texas of all places" -- insulting an entire state and demonstrating an amusing lack of understanding about the prevalence and acceptance of Hispanic culture in the state. Oh, I know. They also got into it with another Hawai'i fan on a Texas thread. And the moderator indicated they've had to deal with ievb before. babybacksets is special, that's for sure. And now he's participating with us. Aren't we lucky! You are low key looking obsessed. Like i said before i am a relentless defender of myself. And and moderator issues I’ve had has majority been because of my potty mouth, which i have tamped down. But please, tell me more about myself. You are most definitely a fan at this point.

I just believe there are two sides to this issue. I get identifying with a player and wanting to defend them. It's part of being a fan. But it's possible for people to believe Jhenna Gabriel gets short shrift and is unfairly criticized. It's also possible for people to believe that for all the positives Gabriel brings to the table, she's still 5'6, is abused when she's on the front row more than most setters, especially on top 10 teams, and that she's not the most outstanding when it comes to utilizing all her options from point to point, misdirecting a defense on where the set is going to go, or always putting it in an ideal spot for the hitters to have the most options. It's not like she never does ANY of these things, but it's not as consistent as other top setters I watch. I think it's possible for both sides to at least be civil, engage in conversation, without being dismissive of one another. I also believe we can all sit around the campfire and sing kumbaya while roasting marshmallows. There's going to be heated discussions on this board. For me, that's part of what it's for. But it's one thing for a poster to get into a heated discussion over something that they're particularly passionate about. It's another thing to see someone display the same dynamic repeatedly. I think it's fair to say I'm not a fan of what I've seen from babybacksets so far. So what? They don't need me as a fan. But if behavior isn't called out, people can't tell what's acceptable and what isn't. Being that dismissive of a legitimate point of view is not okay, IMO. It's not helpful. It doesn't contribute. The only person it's entertaining is ievb, which is selfish and narcissistic. Got put on a “timeout” and came right back to the Texas threads thinking they’re gonna pick😂 like go somewhere else🥴

Weird. I would be having happy thoughts if my favorite team had dismantled a team that had beaten them in the last two meetings. Most of the Texas fans are very pleased with how the girls performed yesterday, it’s just some factors to include in that. And of course the weird posters who are attention seeking, brings negativity to the threads🥴 other than that, it’s business as usual🤘🏽🤘🏽

Not being a gatekeeper. You saying "I'm just calling things as I see them" is the motto of @$$%*!*s everywhere. [bold]You'll never make me angry. I enjoy confrontation. You'll never say anything that affects me personally.[/bold] If you have to go out of your way to say that, it’s gonna be pretty hard to believe. But you're not good for healthy discussion. I have no idea if you realize that and don't care, you realize that and get a perverse thrill out of it, or you're completely ignorant of your impact on dialogue on a message forum, but it doesn't really matter. Whatever your intentions or ignorance level, you're not a helpful contributor. Until you learn to try to communicate with the intention of understanding someone else's perspective on some level, you never will be. Yea simply an opinion, which you’re entitled to, even if you’re dead wrong. Obviously there’s something about my words that bothered you to this point. That is unfortunate because that is never my intention, however i will RELENTLESSLY defend myself if called outside my name/ screen name and so far that seems like the ONLY thing you are capable of doing and then try and pass it off as some sort warped sense of smug self righteousness. You have only ever engaged with me with the intent to admonish me in some way. And I’m sorry but i don’t see why i would take you seriously, if all you’re interested in is talking crap. We’ve engaged with each other twice. Once was when you feared for Parra being a Mexican National among all those Texans hoping she could fend for herself. The second is when you condescendingly dismissed dl3ww. You haven’t done anything to earn any kind of serious consideration from anyone. Honestly, you’re a cancer on this thread at this point.

From what I understand they made it an emphasis to call double contact as well as being more strict on “throwing the ball.” I think we’ll continue to see some controversy during the season. I’m also curious to see how it will be approached during the tournament.

Like i said. You are entitled to your opinion. No matter how wrong you might be. I expressed a concern for a player and people took it personal. Big whoop. Lol but condescending? Lol now that’s an absolute laugh coming from you.

I did not watch the match.
So, when I saw some of the comments about Saige in this thread (during the actual match), my first thought was they were all complimentary; some perhaps a bit over-enthused. Then, I looked at Stats and saw that she had like 3 assists, 1 kill (in 2 attempts), and 1 block assist in 2 sets of (limited) play; that's a very small sample size to form a strong opinion one way or another as to her earning more playing time. But, hopefully, those who watched the match were looking at things that don't show up in the box score.
This situation (Jhenna vs Saige/Naomi) reminds of why in football, the backup QB (sitting on the bench) is the most popular player among the disgruntled fans.
