Idk why Wisconsin fans are booing. This are incorrect calls. That was a bad miss. They are fans. Is this really a question? it really wasn’t. It was a statement.

She is so good and solid in the back row, so it seems like she is a natural for international volleyball. I was so happy to see Samedy in person one more time tonight. The angles she can hit are truly amazing. Yep, and we hope the Badgers host a regional, and Samedy and company are far, far away from it!

I have always dreamed of a MN/WI final, or at least final 4 match. We were robbed of it by Stanford in 2016

Probably. Minnesota was not too good with Dieter and Gibbemeyer as freshmen in 2007, so a veteran Wisconsin team got a series sweep. Same in 2014 with a hobbled Santana and a young team. This has to be the best against a quite good Minnesota team. Livingston went off on them in 2000 in Minneapolis, and Maastricht in Madison that year, but they didn't have the balance to hit at that level. Wisconsin hit .267 in the 2007 match in Madison and .270 in 2000. Confirmed this was the highest hitting percentage for Wisconsin against Minnesota back to 2000. The Gophers did hit .386 in 2018 though.

I am headed to sleep as a night shift zombie. Badger fans, embrace the now. The last time the Badgers won 4 in a row in this series was 20 years ago. Illinois is Sunday. Enjoy Friday and Saturday!

I'm ready to admit that isn't just Shaffmaster, these middles are at fault for a lot of the lack of quality on these swings. This is starting to become more glaring I'm afraid, as passing at times is at least providing the 'option' of going to the middle, and Shaffmaster is making a point to do so. I watched back a few highlights and she is definitely placing the ball better overall. I think footwork and some added deceptiveness with continue to improve which will be a helpful piece of the puzzle for her location inconsistency (her hands will never be the glorious mitts that were SSS's--ooo found a way to add another "S"!). But Myers, Rubright, and Huseman have unfortunately shown next to no ability to put a ball down with authority. So I imagine the coaching staff and setter are left with a tricky negotiation: Do I go to the middle on good passes on occasion because it's important to keep the block guessing, or do I got a player on the wings who has shown much greater likelihood of actually scoring us a point? And to what degree do I need to find some harmony between the two extremes? At the beginning of the season it seemed MN rarely went to their middles because they couldn't. Now it's starting to seem more like they shouldn't.

My takeaways from the game for MN: - our defense did not have a good game, middle blockers couldn't get there in time to close and our back line defense couldn't pick much up. Orzol lit us up. - I actually thought Shaff had a good game in comparison to other recent matches, except for not setting the middle. That could be because they weren't able to get a kill when they did get set, but they still need to be getting more sets all match long. - Myers was pretty much the only server to put any pressure on WI. She had a good serving match. - WI's fire was just too much, you could tell they just wanted that win more. It was a tough atmosphere to play in and make your own momentum. - MN is not a top 10 team this year. Probably in the #12 range. In my opinion top 10 teams adjust, rise, and compete no matter where they are playing.

Wisconsin exposed nearly all of Minnesota's weak points: Embarrassing inability to diagnose and counter tips Suspect passing on pressure serves No middle attack (it was surprising to me that WI's MBs honored MN's MB potential. WI didn't close blocks any better than MN) Inability to close blocks (partly due to Wisconsin's consistently better passing giving Hilley multiple options) Inability to side out consistently after good passes. Inconsistent accuracy and precision by the setter (All three of our starters: Wenaas, Landfair, & Samedy are fully capable of terminating points if the sets are 'in their wheelhouse'. When the MN hitting percentage is under .200 and the opponents have no effective block you have to question the connection between the setter and hitters. The stat sheet needs to show more service aces, even at the risk of more service errors, and an opponent's side out percentage below 60. Good teams will excel in FBSO if you don't apply sufficient serving pressure.
If there is any silver lining to the pasting MN received these 'areas for continued growth' are crystal clear.

MN is an enigma this year and I think the Gophers' range of play will be wide all year. NCAA tournament I could see anything from a second round loss to an Elite Eight run. You can already see it in their results. Their early season losses to Florida and Baylor actually look worse now. Oregon and Stanford wins very solid, if not spectacular. A blowout of MD who beat WI (I know, it was MD peaking and WI down, but still) and took PSU to five. A five set win after being up two sets against Michigan who got throttled by Nebraska.
It's gonna be a roller coaster season.

So a Terrapin can beat a Badger BUT a Badger can beat a Gopher BUT a Gopher can beat a Terrapin.

Not often you see Hugh getting that feisty! Well good lord. That line judge is a mess. Is that what he was upset about? It wasn't clear watching on TV.
