I love Miyabe but if Landfair is going to battle back problems all season then the Gophers ultimate upside is limited. Regional semifinal loss probably the most likely ending point.

Whomever mentioned "cohesion" IMO hit the nail on the head. This Gopher team doesn't have that for whatever reason. Appears we are going through another injury riddled season.

What I don't get is the high error serving when they were NOT SERVING TOUGH. At all.
But if Samedy is not going to play well and Landfair is out, what is the winning formula? With no middle offense? In retrospect, it's amazing it went 5.

I have no knowledge of their team dynamics, but I don’t get any sense that their challenges are a lack of cohesion. They’ve got some very tangible personnel and productivity issues. |

Just checking the boxscore to see if it looks anything like what I saw:
Samedy under .250. Again. With almost no kills in the last 3 sets.
Husemann had 7 kills??
Neither setter even averaged 10 kills per set. Granted the 5th was 3/5 of a set, but still. Weird.
16 SEs and ONE ace. That only tells part of the story. Johnson barely had to move on serve receive. The entire match.
Samedy is playing some great defense this season, but she is out of gas. Or something.
8 aces and only 5 SEs for the team that was actually going for aces.
What is wrong with TL?

Can anyone explain to me how Husemann isn’t M1 yet? She’s outplaying Myers by a mile. Does it matter? They aren't going to set the middles and I've seen no indication EH can run a slide effectively. It's not like there's a crown involved with being M1. The better question is why is Myers set so infrequently if she's the M1? I'm not going to rag on this team. I'm sure they want to fix whatever is wrong more than I do. |
