Not quite the Michigan team I saw in Lincoln last week. Way to bounce back. Oh come on. . . You saw the Chinese fire drill among the Mich coaches last week when at the end of the warm-up period they realized Stivrins was hitting. . . And the vol coach telling Rosen that Alex Stivrins was in the stands and pointing at him. . . I’ve never seen mass confusion in a coaching staff-as introductions were going on-as I did last Friday. By the time of the first serve those Mich players has no idea how or who they were suppose to block. . . It was the Mich coaches who were overwhelmed last Friday. . . It was the Mich coaches who paniced. . . and were responsible for that fiasco . . . Much more than the players were . . 🏐

Just checking the boxscore to see if it looks anything like what I saw: Samedy under .250. Again. With almost no kills in the last 3 sets. Husemann had 7 kills?? Neither setter even averaged 10 kills per set. Granted the 5th was 3/5 of a set, but still. Weird. 16 SEs and ONE ace. That only tells part of the story. Johnson barely had to move on serve receive. The entire match. Samedy is playing some great defense this season, but she is out of gas. Or something.8 aces and only 5 SEs for the team that was actually going for aces. What is wrong with TL? Well, she carries such a humongous load. She needs some weight lifted off her, I’d think.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result
No middle attack means a wall to hit through on the left Does the set go wider..... or narrower? Nope.

Well, I don’t know what to make of Minnesota anymore. Top 20 at best. They haven’t looked good since Oregon. They didn’t play great against Iowa State, went to 5 with Michigan, played good against a Maryland team who wasn’t hungry (coming off a big win), got bodied by Wisconsin, struggled against NW, lost against Michigan. Please don’t rank them in the top 20. They need a reality check. Ok, I'll move them to #1

The simple truth, however, is that this team -- as currently constructed -- is only going to be as good as Steph Samedy is offensively. When she hits under .250 and has hardly any kills for the last three sets, they can't win against even halfway decent teams -- unless those teams don't play well. THAT is the formula that bothers me. It's not sustainable.
Pittman made a huge difference, but it was a problem in the spring too.
Their serving makes it even tougher, especially when they have a 16:1 ratio and incredibly easy serves. Good luck winning with that.
I know they are trying. Like I said, I hope they can fix this.
(Also, Michigan served great and played lights out defense. That sure doesn't help a team struggling like the Gophers. Too many long rallies lost, again. Even after strong initial attacks.)

This match seemed a lot closer than the scores indicated. Lots of great rallies! Congrats to Michigan for pulling this one off.

I want Landfair back please Minnesota plays so bad without her Agreed, where the F is Landfair. She hit almost .500 in the NW match and we probably wouldn't have won without her. I’m flashing back to Molly Haggerty’s experience, and the insane club volleyball/ school/ USA Junior work load they both shouldered as high schoolers…..

Katie had 2 attack errors, 1 block error and 5 service errors. On the plus she had 2 kills and 6 BA. Is anyone else surprised Shea didn’t get playing time?

Not quite the Michigan team I saw in Lincoln last week. Way to bounce back. They bounced back pretty nicely the next night in Iowa City.

Samedy is AVERAGING more than 50 swings a night. How much longer can she keep it up?

Gophers have a tough turnaround with a late afternoon match tomorrow. Buckle up. And the Spartans pushed Ohio State to extra points in 2 of the sets tonight.

A top 10 B1G program goes to the court of a lower-ranked B1G program, missing one of their key offensive weapons, and gives away three or more free points per set on service errors but plays even through half of the fifth set before losing on a big run. Hmmmm, why does that sound familiar...
