Imagine keeping a player like Russell on the bench all this time instead of on the court so you can win...
Couldn't be me!

Vibo with a spark, up in the fourth set with better transition play and scoring in runs. Nishida getting more comfortable after a short break on the bench.
Whew Flavio is bombing some of these balls

Oof what a way for Vibo to lose. They worked so hard to make the comeback, get match point, and then couldn't get the ball to Nishida on those last two swings.

Monza also swept Ravenna today. Not much to report but Grozer had 9 kills (0 errors), 2 blocks, and an ace. Grozdanov had 10 kills and 4 blocks... 14 total blocks for Monza compared to Ravenna's 1 block. Oof.

Looking at the Padova-Piacenza stat report, Padova had nearly twice as many service errors as Piacenza with 17 errors, 3 aces compared to Piacenza's 9 errors and 6 aces. Passing was also oof with two of the primary passers under 40% positive, and while Bottolo held up in that regard, he hit negative on the match.

Piacenza really did a good job hiring Thibault this year: no olympics tournament (Tillie prefered Yacine Louati), no euro championships, the guy is fresh and as new.

Milano playing a solid brand of vb, winning set one against Modena. Modena got a little momentum late, interested to see how this plays out
Wow Ishikawa is diming some of these tough serves

Russell, Recine, and Rossard all playing at the pins in the first set against Padova This clearly was the "best volleyball players" roster that Piacenza can put on the floor. Serving passing, attacking, net and floor coverage was impressive. I wonder if we will see it again?

Looking at the match report, Milano definitely served well when in (although I think at times the serving strategy/execution faltered). Some of the players didn't really have much success from the line tho... Chinenyeze is so hit or miss serving but I feel like he leans more towards the cupcake side most often. Their block put in work too, but the 5th set was a let down.
Didn't think it was Bruno or Rossini's best match, but Modena got just enough contribution from their middles + Ngapeth/Nimir were scoring at a good rate. There's definitely a drop off after the top four, but at least Milano fought their hardest.
