So, Washington fans, just a question from a midwest resident who really doesn't know: do you consider Washington State or Oregon a bigger sports rivalry for the Huskies?

So, Washington fans, just a question from a midwest resident who really doesn't know: do you consider Washington State or Oregon a bigger sports rivalry for the Huskies? I think it mostly depends on the sport....but in general I'd say UW/WSU because you visibly see it throughout the state so much more. I will say that I think WSU people think that the Washington rivalry is more important to Washington fans than our rivalry with Oregon, but that's because WSU are filled with people bitter about not being able to get into Washington and they want to prove that they are better than us .

I heard players see Oregon as rivalry more than any others. I think it's generational. When I was a kid, I don't remember any "Oregon rivalry" at all. But in the late 90s and especially the 2000s, Oregon football got really good and beat Washington a bunch of times in a row. Suddenly there was this big Oregon rivalry. Under Chris Gobrecht, UW WBB was a major power and had an intense rivalry with Tara Vandiver's Stanford teams. So there has long been a rivalry with Stanford on the women's side. And of course the HUGE rivalry for rowing is with Cal. Has been for about 100 years now.

While the rivalry is close to the in-state rivalries, a big part of calling them the biggest rival is a subtle dig at the in-state opponent at not being relevant / "little brother" / too small to matter.
The Evergreen State is different, but within Oregon there's also a large contingent of unaffiliated people who generally like both Oregon and OSU (there are obviously die-hards) and don't really harbor hate for the other - will just follow whoever is good in each sport (so... OSU gets baseball, basically, and women's basketball until recently) - so that helps support the overall position of UW as the bigger rival because those folks will also get up for a UW game a bit more.

Ducks sweep. I think their defense will give them a lot of chances to swing and Washington’s defense can’t stop multiple swings per rally often. Bad match up IMO

Bad match up IMO This match really just comes down to whether Oregon's setting is decent enough to actually get multiple swings in a rally. It could very easily not be (see: Utah). If we end up giving UW downball drills in transition all day, EMP will capitalize.

Little known fact: The late Paul Allen had his Seattle Experience Music Project change their name to MoPop because he knew Ella May Powell would be coming to UW and didn't want to share the EMP brand.

I really can see this going anything from 3-0 UW to 3-0 UO and anything between.
