How? I get they have a travel advantage with O'Hare and Midway, but men's hoops is their premier program, and how is that helped by this? None of the other programs in the league has been really good recently, and the MVC did not hold them back from the Final Four and the win over Illinois in the second round. Just more travel for all the programs. Because the A-10 is a better basketball league than the MVC and has been for some time. It's also a better institutional/cultural fit for Loyola. Is it? Some programs in the league have been very good at times, but on an inconsistent basis, and it has been a while.

(I don't really follow basketball)

I can't be the only poster on VT who is getting to the point where I'm tired of trying to keep up with conference changes and, at the same time, have stopped caring that I'm not keeping up?!?

I honestly couldn't have said which conference Loyola Chicago is in right now. Missouri Valley, apparently. At any rate, judging by the NET conference rankings, the A-10 is ranked several spots higher than the MVC, so this seems like a good move for both Loyola and for the A-10. this year, sure. Not always the case for the A10 to be above the MVC though

When I see this thread pop up, I am always hopeful Rutgers and Maryland will suddenly be the names on the update.

(I don't really follow basketball) UNI Drake Missouri State All of them have been respectable over the last 2-3 years (Missouri State has tapered off some). --- Seems like the MVC has been a launching pad for some institutions to get into bigger, more established conferences. Creighton left for Big East (2013) Wichita State left for AAC (2017) Now Loyola to A10 in 2022. With Belmont coming in, it will be interesting to see if the MVC pursues anyone else other than Murray State. I am hearing UT-Arlington and UMKC (god, please god no). I hated the travel from Terre Haute to Wichita and Omaha both. Those 9+ hour bus rides are rough.

And in the COVID year, Dayton was going to be a #1 seed. It’s a pretty big gap. BUT I still don’t think the revenues are that great to cover all the extra flights.
