A billion times more attractive? I don't think so. I guess Miami recently got that AAU status that doesn't actually matter. They're both good academic schools that would be around the median for the Big Ten. For football (what really matters), they both have great brands. Miami has more national championships with five to three. But Florida State's titles are more recent than all but one of Miami's, and even that one was over 20 years ago. Florida State won its most recent title in 2013. Anyway, I think both Florida State and Miami would prefer the SEC over the Big Ten, so I'm not sure the Big Ten gets to choose. And regardless, since both schools are in the ACC, they are likely to be locked down for another decade or so due to its interminable TV contract. Edit: I honestly don't know why any school in Florida would prefer the Big Ten over the SEC. 11 of the current 15 ACC members are in the Southeast, so the SEC is far preferable for geography and travel. Plus, the SEC is far better at football than the Big Ten and has been for some time. Tallahassee has 5 direct flights and DC is the only one to a Big 10 destination. Having just read The Athletic article about travel logistics for the LA schools, I'm not sure that Miami and Ft. Lauderdale airports don't make them a much easier fit into the Big 10. I'd expect the Big 10 would prefer UNC but at this point who knows. Plus, I'm not sure Miami is a great fit in the SEC. Bringing South Florida Speed to the Midwest is a strategy. I'm not sure what they could do to succeed in the Big 10 in football. Miami baseball in the SEC? IDK, nothing special, but in the Big 10 they are a baseball power. Plus I think Miami still needs to sell tickets in most sports- the student body and alumni don't just fill everything all of the time. I expect that they would draw more fans on flights from Minneapolis and Columbus than they would Starkville and Fayetteville, for weather alone. As for the ACC being on lockdown, FSU is reported to have been shopping for an offer, which may mean that they think the found their way out. We'll see if that's true. The Big Ten preferring North Carolina over Florida State and Miami would be very on brand for them. It's no wonder that they've gotten lapped by the SEC in football. Also, baseball doesn't matter. As for anyone thinking they can get out of the ACC early, I'll believe it when I see it.

Nobody want to talk about how bad of shape Disney is in financially and plenty of talk of Disney dumpling ESPN. Doesn’t sound very stable to me if I’m SEC. Anyone who refuses to accept that Disney is in financial trouble is living a lie

Even if Disney sells ESPN, the SEC will still get paid.

My point is Disney isn’t in any position to offer any more money then what’s already there

As soon as another "serious" offer comes in with ESPN, Apple will make their move.

If Apple is the only suitor, then Disney becomes a price taker and Apple can lowball them. If other offers come in, then Apple will have to bid against the other suitors which drives the price of ESPN up.

My point is Disney isn’t in any position to offer any more money then what’s already there It's a moot point because the SEC isn't expanding anyway. There isn't anyone available that they'd want because the top remaining brands are all in the ACC. There isn't really extra money for the Big Ten to expand either unless Notre Dame suddenly wants to join and can get out of its ACC contract.

They already failed in their job with Disney. There has to be competition in the market place. You can let a couple companies monopolize the market. Atleast they are not suppose to. No big company is going to be allowed to buy Disney as a whole. It will be broken down into parts and sold off

I imagine that Apple is waiting to see what someone else would offer compared to the actual valuation of the Disney. Because Apple is an outlier in that it's in a great cash position, they probably think that Disney will try to take advantage of that to drive up the price. I imagine Apple doesn't want to offer first and get stuck with paying a higher than expected cost. I just don't see any other suitors wanting to take on ESPN so I feel like Apple should just bite the bullet and do it.

Nobody wants the woke trash they spout and you have so much streaming now ESPN is a dinosaur that’s about to go extinct. Regardless of what political views people have , it’s been proven over and over and over that when you inject that into entertainment it fails every time

It’s true. It doesn’t matter what side someone is on. People don’t want politics in their entertainment. Speak for yourself. In the same way that you claim "it doesn't matter what side someone is on" or "people don't want politics in their entertainment," I think there are people in this country that are just overly sensitive to ANYTHING that doesn't immediately align with their worldview. They've even come up with fancy buzzwords like "woke" to describe them. Agree to disagree.

The problem is companies like Disney that call everyone that’s doesn’t align with their beliefs sexist or racist as a defense and then slam consumers for all their failures and not own up to anything is why they and other companies like them are tanking. That’s why I believe those terms have no meaning anymore because so many use it as a defensive shield from criticism. Nobody takes any accountability anymore its always blaming everyone else

When the bubble "pops", there will be a reckoning.
