the beginning of the great reshuffle of small conferences in the Northeast The increased NCAA tournament payouts that MAAC schools will get for the next few years will make them harder to poach.

It was all about the old Yankee Conference, with UConn, UMass, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont; the big state school from each of the six New England states.

Eh, I don't know about that. Each NCAA Tournament unit is worth about $2 million, and Saint Peter's earned three extra units in this run (they were always going to get one unit regardless because of the MAAC's autobid). So ~$6 million divided by 11 MAAC schools is a little over $500K per school spread over six years. I'm not saying that doesn't matter, but if there are compelling reasons to make a move, I doubt losing out on that money will be a deal breaker. I mean, look at Loyola Chicago. They made the Final Four in 2018 and announced a move to the A-10 three-and-a-half years later.

Is this Lindenwood chasing hopes of more money? A lot of schools in the area have shut or are shutting down, most recently Lincoln College.

Kind of an usual post at "news dump" time; leading into the weekend Probably in response to Lamar announcing exit and rejoining Southland I don't think there's any question that's what this is about. Hence the Friday afternoon news dump.
