Yes. Looks like the remaining schools may have signed the binding agreement to stay together.

OMG, Our administrators (and the MWC Commish) have literally been fighting to keep the Mountain West together for the last week! (As the P12 had their hooks on Air Force and UNLV) It looks like the efforts paid off as the remaining schools said they will not be going to the P12 and are staying together. (There's more but that's likely the stuff you care about if you haven't been following this whole drama)

Mountain West Conference announced Thursday that it had received signed memorandums of understanding from its remaining seven schools to keep the league together through the 2031-32 school year. . . .
Nevarez was able to keep the remaining group together by promising significant cash distributions of the $90 million in exit fees, of which Air Force and UNLV will receive roughly $22 million (24.5%), while others will receive around $14 million except for Hawaii, which is a member only in football and thus gets a $4.5 million payout.
That doesn’t include the $55 million in so-called "poaching fees" that the Mountain West is owed as a result of its previous scheduling agreement with Washington State and Oregon State. The Pac-12 sued the Mountain West this week, claiming that the poaching fees represented a violation of antitrust law. . . .
The split leaves both the Pac-12 and Mountain West needing to add members to reach the minimum of eight to qualify as a Football Bowl Subdivision conference. Among the schools who could be in consideration for both leagues are UTEP, New Mexico State, Texas State and a variety of FCS schools like Sacramento State that are looking to move up a level.

I wish Hawaii would join PAC-12 tbh, but I guess that won't happen. I think PAC adding two Texas teams that are on the rise (football wise) might be ideal for them. Volleyball wise, I'm not very excited about the new PAC-12 group so far lol.

I still think they should have just done the reverse merger. I'm highly skeptical that an eight-team Pac-12 with Washington State, Oregon State, Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Utah State and whoever will be worth enough to offset the massive fees they have to pay.

Both sides (as of right now) have weakened themselves and aren't as good as the sum of their parts, but let's see who they each acquire as expansion targets. MWC has informed the MAC it's interested in Northern Illinois and Toledo as football-only members. It's obvious, but neither side gives a %*$# at all about volleyball right now and both halves may end up needing affiliate members.

I think if they have eight, that should be enough, but I'm not sure.

I agree with this assessment:
The Pac-12 has less inventory and more competition, as networks can use the Pac-12 and MWC against each other to drive the price for both down. This could have been avoided if the Pac-2 would have just swallowed their pride and done the reverse merger, but they still have that Pac-12 leadership ability.

I could get 12 guys in a bar to fix this mess better than these overpaid idiots. Literally, two beers each and they would have it solved by halftime.

I'm gonna be honest--after perusing Reddit and Twitter, the Pac-2 (and the new five as well, since they jumped onto this rickety ship) seem to have the most delusional fans in the country. They all seem to think they're going to get at least $10 million per year per school, but that just seems like wishful thinking. Like even under the best-case scenario where they bribe Memphis into changing their mind, that's not going to move the needle much. And the optics have just been dreadful. They were publicly rejected by four AAC schools and publicly rejected (twice) by UNLV. They're even funding (to the tune of $100 million or more) the Mountain West in its efforts to retain its remaining schools and to find a couple of new members to replace the departed.

UNLV big timing the Pac is kind of funny, in a "shoe is on the other foot" sorta way.

UNLV big timing the Pac is kind of funny, in a "shoe is on the other foot" sorta way. And both the Mountain West and PAC are really vying hard for Texas State! It is an upcoming athletic department, plus, and few will recognize this, you do get the alma mater of a US President cache if you land them!

because they didn't have a better offer False. The better offer was to keep the PAC alive, as they had given their word to do. I hope neither wins a single conference championship in the Big Ten for the next 20 years. Hope both their football teams have a nice like Nebraska-like stretch.

It looks like the efforts paid off as the remaining schools said they will not be going to the P12 and are staying together. It's easier to figure that out when none of you have an offer to go ...
