That doesn’t include the $55 million in so-called "poaching fees"
Won't see a red cent of this made up nonsense

I still think they should have just done the reverse merger. Why?
A school like Wyoming is worthless. (It also gives me great pleasure to imagine how angry their president must be at all this. )
A school like New Mexico is barely more than worthless.

Both sides (as of right now) have weakened themselves and aren't as good as the sum of their parts, but let's see who they each acquire as expansion targets. MWC has informed the MAC it's interested in Northern Illinois and Toledo as football-only members. It's obvious, but neither side gives a %*$# at all about volleyball right now and both halves may end up needing affiliate members. What's the minimum number for a volleyball conference? I think if they have eight, that should be enough, but I'm not sure. I'd have to dig out the manual again, but I think a "multisport conference" just have to have seven full DI members to get auto-bids for its champion to the NCAA brackets.

networks can use the Pac-12 and MWC against each other to drive the price for both down Sheer nonsense. The MWC footprint is now nonexistent (or practically so ... San Jose ... please) or very sparse throughout the West.

publicly rejected (twice) by UNLV. That's just because state politics wouldn't let them leave. No other reason.
You know this. So does everyone.

UNLV big timing the Pac is kind of funny, in a "shoe is on the other foot" sorta way. And both the Mountain West and PAC are really vying hard for Texas State! It is an upcoming athletic department, plus, and few will recognize this, you do get the alma mater of a US President cache if you land them! If they actually want the San Antonio market, UTSA is a far better choice.

Money had a lot to do with it too. I have a hard time believing that you don't know that.

Money had a lot to do with it too. If they had an offer to join the PAC, the same as Utah State did, they'd be in the PAC today. There is no other truthful way to put it. They were prevented from taking that deal.

The only purpose of those conferences, especially in the West, is for cheap content that the networks can use in their late night or weekday time slots.

They were prevented from taking that deal. They did have an offer. They chose to decline it to stay in the Mountain West with its cash incentives. What are you talking about?

Because they're on the hook for $100-$150 million in exit fees and poaching penalties by doing it this way. And they don't even have eight members.

No need to keep emphasizing a thing that isn't really even a point worth making.
If those five that left really thought it was a valid point, they wouldn't have left.

Do you understand how contracts work? Sure, they'll get an eighth eventually. But it's still a terrible look for them.
