As a Nebraska fan, the Wisconsin block scares me. I think that Hames will need to be deceptive with her set selection, and effective with her set placement. I am not confident of either. I fear a Wisconsin block party. I hope they prove me wrong. I think you’re going to see Nebraska attack a lot behind the setter. Nebraska passing can somewhat mitigate what is an imposing block.

Purdue had 16 blocks against us in 4 sets and Maryland had 15 in 5 against Wis. If the Maryland game was a block party then Purdue had a block extravaganza.

In past years NE could not stop Retke. WI is not a one pony Retke team, but NE matches up, except for Retke IMO. Thus the keys for NE: Serving, keep WI OOS to limit Retke offense. Can the NE back row dig Retke's shots and possibly frustrate her? The last few years, WI has been sweeping NE. WI always brings their "A" game vs NE. Huge challenge for NE, which may need their best game yet to prevail. Again IMO. GO BIG RED! GO HUSKERS! You forgot to mention Neb's complete lack of a viable OH2 over the past month. Assuming that will get worked out by Wednesday night.

Husker fans will have to hope that Ally Batenhorst has another match like she had against Penn St when she had 15 kills and 3 errors on 32 attempts at .375. Or if Lexi Sun gets the call, she can return to last season's form.

A third key is NE's serve receive. If NE is in system they can run their middles. Batenhorst and Sun have struggled vs well formed double blocks. If NE is in system, WI can pick its poison. Most teams have emphasized our left side with Kubik and at times Krause hitting there. Where will WI emphasize for their double block. Batenhorst and Sun are both capable of big numbers with a less well formed block.

Cook told JB and Lauren post match Saturday when asked about the Ally/Sun position that they have been working with Whit and maybe she could see sometime there as both together hit for negative on Saturday.

Whitney is an unpolished gem that wii shine when they really need her! Yup, next year, and she’ll have to beat out really good players to do that.

In Conference only stats, Nebraska leads the conference in attack %. Nebraska and Wisconsin are tied in opponent attack percentage. Nebraska leads in assists, kills per set, and is leading by more than 2 digs per set over any other conference team. Nebraska also leads in having the fewest reception errors and is leading in service aces. Wisconsin leads in one statistic, blocking. Match-ups will be critical and neither team can afford to lose the serve pass battle by a significant margin. The biggest question for Nebraska is the who plays opposite Kubik who leads the BIG in kills per set. The biggest challenge for Wisconsin is how they defend the 3-5 split with Caffey and Krause. Both coaches prepare well, both teams have exceptional liberos although Nebraska is stronger in backcourt defense from zone 6-1. Both coaches are conservative and I wouldn't anticipate any surprises offensively. If Hames digss too many balls, Wisconsin wins. If Hilley digs plays close to the number of balls that Hames does, Nebraska wins.

Cook told JB and Lauren post match Saturday when asked about the Ally/Sun position that they have been working with Whit and maybe she could see sometime there as both together hit for negative on Saturday. I mean, it’s time, no? The other hitters/middles have bought them time to figure the OH2 thing out, and neither one has come out to take the position. Honestly, at this point, try Knuckles all the way around. She hit on the left in high school right?* *This is a joke, before the literal interpreters come out
