I wanted to ask Wisconsin fans a question: I’m not sure if it’s an every kill thing, but does number 22 Orzol (SP?) always make a “noise” when she goes for a kill? I could only hear it in set 4 and didn’t hear it at all before that. I think that it’s kind of cool. Like in karate or tae kwon do. You do it to scare the opponent pretty much. My season ticket is 7th row roughly straight up from where the UW head coach is sitting/standing. That is, off the left side pin for the UW attack. I've never heard a thing. I could be wrong and it wasn’t her that was making the noise. Did anyone else notice and was in Holloway for the match?

Have the Badgers not taken any time at all to develop their actual recruited DS'es? That would explain to me why Boyer is still in after all of her overpasses and shanks Just now with the time to come back to this. Right now the only 'home grown' DS on the roster is Anna MacDonald (and Izzy Ashburn, who's really more a setter, but has indeed been "developed" into a competent DS). They have had two who had to 'retire' for medical reasons since the 2019 season - Riley Bell and Emma Whitehead; not saying either would have cracked this lineup, but it is certainly a factor. Going back to that 2019 team, ME Dodge was 'home grown' And nothing ever came out of Bell or Emma either. Dodd was mostly a serving specialist her first season and then ignored largely after that. Besides ME, Amber was the last one developed by the badgers and not either poached or brought in as a grad student that Wis has actually developed. Either they cannot recruit DS'es or don't know what to do with unfinished kids once they get on campus.

Good luck staying out of the net if swinging with a sledgehammer. Also, not sure how fast she could swing that at a ball but I am thinking it would give the blockers a whole lot of time to get in position. This is just a weird graphic Seemed to work out okay. I missed where they carried an actual sledgehammer on to the court. Dumb graphic regardless of the result, if Wisconsin came out with it, I would say the same thing.

I play tennis and sometimes you grunt involuntarily. yes, often people will exaggerate it to try to distract your opponent but the reason is that you're putting all of your force into your swing and the breath is literally forced out of your body. There are certainly many volleyball players who grunt when they hit as hard as they can, and Orzol def hits hard a lot. I saw that the Wisconsin players are passionate and love volleyball. They hit hard and you can hear it…even in a rowdy Holloway.

Well, that was not the news I wanted to wake up to. Congrats to Purdue on the win. I hope the Badgers can bounce back and that Civita will be able to play again. Wake up to....?

If she wasn't the last, there weren't many in between who were on the roster for 4 years. Recruited DSs at UW almost always quit playing or medically retire.

I'm at work so I didn't get a chance to watch but... It's been a hard few weeks for this team with injuries and the MSU hiccup but damn it, they are a quality team that deserves to be considered for a seed and to be Top 10!

If Purdue was healthy, they beat MSU and maybe Nebraska or OSU. totally different outlook on the year sadly.

A shout out to Badger VT posters who, even in the face of subpar performance, were respectful to the sport and the opponents on the thread during the course of the match.
The NEB - MN match thread was a cesspool of negativity. imo as above, so below. Husker fans seem to take a lead from the coaching staff whose behavior at the side of the court is boorish and, in the words of another poster, petulant.
I will be rooting for the Badgers all the way to the end barring a miraculous quantum leap in MN's MB performance. NEB's Caffey & Stivrins had kills in the low 20s Saturday. MN MBs had 4.
We mourn Barnes' loss tho it should be said that CC is also a super L.
I found it surprising that Sheffield did not counsel Hilley to widen her set placements this week to Orzol. It was very late in the match that Orzol was set to the gap. When your opps are camped on the pin you have to find a way to give her better angles. Historically Orzol has been able to power through a block, but, as was mentioned above Cleveland is a superior blocker. Therefore a bit further back and bit closer to the sideline gives Orzol line swinging and tooling opportunities.

Are you differentiating between DS and libero? Anne-Marie Hickey. And from the same team, KT Kvas, if I'm not mistaken.

I just watched the re-play... Wow, Rettke was a train wreck!
Two matches in a row she has not played well.
Sheffield take note: DEMPS MUST BE IN YOUR SYSTEM AT ALL TIMES! Stop having her come off the bench to play savior.
Wish Sheff would of gave Smrek another shot.
Last, but not least, Barnes you are the sh$*... wow... amazing.
I'm calling for Orzol and Demps at the pins, Dana and Anna in middle and Robinson on the Right. Loberg needs to take several seats!

And Dana, your slide is played out.... it's been figured out. How about a back 1, a 1 1/2 front A, or a push 1... even a 3-1... you need to have something else in your arsenal. And for gods sake! Hit a freaking overpass in, especially tied at 26!!!!!
