I was a little disappointed in this, it’s an unnecessary back handed compliment in my opinion. She showed some signs of being able to help them, poor choice of words. It appears to me that Coach Cook is frustrated that Sun is not playing up to her potential and is pushing her to do so. The emphasis on "finally" was added after the fact, I dont recall Coach Cook emphasizing it when he made the statement. Is this an appropriate approach? Is it an effective approach? I do not know the answer to either of those questions.

I have zero doubts he would challenge her about her play, in practice, privately….but that isn’t something done effectively through the media, and he’d know that. I’m sure he’s frustrated and that frustration came out. It happens.

Last ditch/last half of her last season to say "enough" with the "soft" talk and go all "no more Mr. Nice Guy". We're talkin' Sandy in Grease here -- I mean she waited til the last 10 minutes to put down the hammer.

You know it's bad when the color commentator says "this is some rough volleyball" What he should have said is that this is some "humiliating " volley ball by the Huskers!!

Coach has been on a steady three and a half year campaign to get her to play within the Nebraska system. She is a dynamic free spirit. I think he's earned the right to be a little frustrated and he's been pretty good about holding his tongue. Not being a regular watcher of Nebraska VB, can you explain what the Nebraska system is, and how Sun isn't playing within it? I'm not either a fan or critic of her -- I'm just curious what the Nebraska system is. And I readily admit to being a fan--but not a student of--volleyball, so I probably wouldn't recognize any program's system if it came up and slapped me across the face!😊 Nebraska is generally what I would call a "hitter's offense". They run a relatively safe, deliberate, error-free style. Emphasis on passing and defense, Setter (generally) sets, safe, hittable balls. (Rarely at fast tempo or risk taking sets) They'll often let less skilled teams beat themselves with their ball control. Pin Hitters need to be really good at learning how to score out of system. (High IQ in terms of shot selection and having the shots and range) Setters will rarely force a perfect set, they'll get a safe, high ball if out of system. If I had to critique Lexi, I'd say the problem is with her shot selection--I feel like she has the shots she needs, she often just chooses the wrong shot at the wrong time.

Win or lose, you're still a NILlionaire. :-)

Knowing where to hit when blockers are ready is rare talent for hitters to learn! IMO

She has gained a reputation, whether it's fair and accurate or not, of being soft. I don't know if that's fair or not. IS she practicing like she's worried about breaking a nail? IS she soft? Seems like Cook has that impression of her. Regardless, I do agree it's in bad taste to say what he said about her in public. I personally think she's a great player. Highly skilled. I'd love to see her go off! I'd love to see her play with a chip on her shoulder. It would be a great way to close out her career. Go off Lexi!!

FWIW: I thought for a minute about who might be a good "counter-example" to all the attention - good and bad - Lexi gets. Being a Badger fan, my mind went to Grace Loberg. So, I looked at career numbers. As I said, offered FWIW: Sun - 1075 kills, 3.32 per set, 2868 total swings, .231 hitting percent, 190 total blocks, 3.10 total points per set Loberg - 1069 kills, 2.69 per set, 3001 total swings, .232 hitting percent, 165 total blocks, 3.01 total points per set

No. Forgot/didn't think of her time at Texas.
