I'm glad that you agree that people who say disparaging things should not be attending matches. So you agree we should eliminate the student section as well? You're overgeneralizing. A couple students say nasty things and we wipe the whole student section. With the nasty comments from a couple general admission folks last night, we should just bar fans from attending altogether, right?

Fans yell all kinds of derogatory things during a game. Are we going to eliminate all of them? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? Let the athletic department handle it as they see fit.

I hold these truths to be self-evident:
If you make a political statement on Volleytalk, you can and should expect someone who disagrees to express that disagreement in response.
If you use a sporting event as the occasion to make a political statement, you can and should expect someone who disagrees to express that disagreement in response.
If you use a sporting event as the occasion to make a political statement, you might think you are doing so "respectfully," but those who disagree will find the mere fact that you used that occasion to make a political statement to be disrespectful and are likely to think your opinion itself to be disrespectful.
If you believe your political views merely reflect undeniable TRUTHS, then you are delusional. They are just your opinions, which is why a great many other people don't share them.
If you think there is any point in making a political statement on Volleytalk other than to insult those who do not share your opinion--granted, that insulting others as morons (or as morons qualified by a word that has to be spelled out using symbols in place of some letters) can be pleasurable, if not productive--then you are . . . right at home here. Unfortunately.

At the risk of going totally off-topic, (sarcasm intended) Nebraska broke a team record in a 3 game match with 78 digs. Good news that the ball had a hard time finding the floor. Bad news that there were a lot of long rallies because the pins could not terminate.

Sorry to clutter a match thread, but I guess I can blame it on the fine gentleman who called an opposing player "trash"...

This is going to be fascinating to see who can close out the big season. I don’t have a lot of faith in the huskers right now. I hope they surprise me.

I think you're misunderstanding why people would take a knee during the anthem. I would love to explain why, but I get the feeling that you're the type of person that won't understand no matter how many times someone gives you an explanation. can you give us the readers digest version of "why" they are kneeling? i would like to see an article asking those that are kneeling why they are kneeling. that would give them a better platform to address their grievances. and why is people protesting against protestors wrong? i don't think one should be derogative to protestors--but the majority of protesting the last few years has led to rioting. if you say it hasn't, there is a lot of film footage out there to prove you wrong. you just have to acknowledge that it is happening. if you can "peacefully" protest, have at it, do it respectfully. if you want to protest the protests, do it respectfully. unfortunately, this society has turned to violence way to many times. i do not know what was said to the maryland players, i only have to see how the nebraska players reacted to know it was not good. turn off fox news and listen to people of color bruh

If we are all done with our temper tantrumcan can we continue talking about the game? Also Britney Spears has been freed for those of you who were enraged about that also.

Nebraska should run the table and get to the last two games. That will decide the big champions.

I don't think it does. Perception comes from proximity. It's easy for fans that have no skin in the game to make generalizations based on a specific moment or anecdote, but recruits/players build relationships with coaches and players, they visit the campus and town, talk to school administrators, other students, fans, etc. That's where they develop their perspective and decide if the environment feels comfortable to them.
