There isn't a tiebreaker. You can have co-champs (2017, for example, NE was co-champ with Penn State despite winning the H2H) In just about any conference, league, division, etc., in any sport, two or more teams tying for first place at the end of the regular season are declared co-champs. Occasionally some have a playoff to declare a champion rather than have co-champions (I believe I've read the Ivy League does this in volleyball). With that said, almost all of those co-champion situations also have a tie-breaker if there exists a situation where the champion advances to a next level of play. I'm sure the Big 10 has a tie-breaker for volleyball to determine who will be the conference automatic qualifier in the NCAA tournament. This is the situation in the Big 12. After winning tonight, Texas clinched a co-championship but also clinched the automatic qualifier because it will have the tie-breaker over Baylor if Texas loses tomorrow and the two teams tie for the championship.

To be clear, I was responding to an OP. That post is no longer there.

Well, yes, but the question in the OP was asking about how Wisconsin was possibly declared a B1G champ when it was still possible (albeit highly highly unlikely) for Purdue and Wisconsin to tie. They weren't referring to tiebreakers for tournament AQ purposes It appears the OP deleted his/her post so your post is the first one in the thread and now appears to be the OP when someone opens the thread.

In conferences that have tournaments to determine the AQ, the tie-breakers are typically used to determine seeding in the tournament.

Wisconsin broke out the B1G champion t-shirts tonight because they won a share of the title, even if they lose to the Hoosiers tomorrow night.
I wished they would have waited, and beat Indiana to celebrate the outright title (if that happens). But, one can’t argue with the math. Badgers are either co-champions or champions tomorrow night.

I was surprised that they made as big a deal of it tonight as they did. I guess maybe it 'gets it out of the way' so that tomorrow can have even more of a focus on 'senior night'. But I did expect them to be more low-key than they were.

Celebrating a win over Nebraska to either be sole or co champs makes perfect sense the shirts would be broken out tonight.

Certainly was a contrast to Texas who also clinched a co-championship tonight plus they also clinched the conference AQ to the NCAA tournament. There was no sign of Texas celebrating a co-championship after the game plus during Logan Eggleston's interview after the game, I don't remember her even mentioning it.

Badgers are B1G champions tonight, regardless of what happens tomorrow. Purdue might *also* be champions tomorrow night, depending on the outcome of two matches.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a team celebrate a co-championship when they still have an opportunity to win the outright championship in a future game.

There are tie breakers to determine the automatic qualifier if there are co-champions. My understanding is that it's still possible for Purdue to win the automatic qualifier spot.
