Did or does Anna get a medical redshirt? You mean Annika? Kiraly is Anna. Yeah, that one.

Did or does Anna get a medical redshirt? Did she play more than 1/3 of the teams matches, or past halfway in the season? I don’t believe she did. Only a couple.

Does Robyn get coach of the year ? The only real second guessing I have with her coaching is the right side.. I feel like Big West play would’ve been good for Leo’s development.

I think calling Amber one dimensional is a bit much. But the two problems our middles have been able to hide all year are our inconsistent RS and our lack of an OH other than BVS who can put it down with consistency. I wonder who will step up next year. It’s actually not a bit much. There are many good hitters, but few 6 rotational players. Ambers game needs to include slides as well. Until she can, she’ll be one less step complete. The question now is, who will step up in the first round of the NCAA tournament? I agree with 808d. Amber is an amazing athlete but still learning how to be a volleyball player. She and Williams were clocked by middles who have footwork and sound mechanics.

She can also hit a variety of sets in the middle from all angles, high right side sets, block, cover blocks, dig, bump set, and serve..

I would have liked Leo to stay on the floor, but I have to admit that Leo can be a bit frustrating to watch, too much inconsistency

Did not see this flexibility in attacks as you mentioned is in Amber's repertoire. Anyway, the reason the middles need to slide attack is because there is no opposite to bail them out. We could probably have middles, like Magill, who will primarily work middle quicks - but then again, she had someone like Nikki Taylor who manned the right side. Without the right side threat - teams, much bigger teams will stuff Hawaii all night long!

Exciting match to watch. Lots of really great rallies. Agree with a lot of what has been posted about Hawaii and not much else to add to it. I sort of expected what I saw from UCSB. I watched them for a lot of the season and they are also young, so they go through highs and lows. But they are really efficient and I think their style gives Hawaii trouble, specifically stressing the middles and going fast pin to pin.
Looking ahead, next year will be really interesting in the Big West. If the conference can schedule well as a whole, there could be 3, maybe 4 teams in the NCAA tournament. Assuming no transfers, UCSB returns all of their starters except for their middle Ennis. Cal Poly returns a really good core with Dvoracek, Stockham, DeNecochea, and Phillips. Long Beach returns Williams, Lovett, and a slew of other players. And Irvine returns 2 physical players in Umeh and Ofoegbu. If the bottom teams can get wins and the upper teams schedule well, it could be a good year for the Big West.

Plus, if she only will take like 1-2 swings a set, like it seemed Westerberg may have tonight, what do you really have to lose? but Westerberg does pack more of a punch with her hits.

Yeah, the Santa Barbara teams of old, coached by Kathy, were very fun to watch - much like this team. Very scrappy and quick! Hopefully the conference will be much stronger next season - and not so many silly losses. The conference did look promising to start, but then sizzled.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen the other games this season, but she’s been doing it all, and probably hits a better slide than Skye. She couldn’t overcome a defense that was geared to stop her at the expense of exposing the outsides, but that doesn’t make her one dimensional. She’s multidimensional, but just got outplayed.
