Since Hawaii is out, I’ll be rooting for players from Hawaii. So go Stanford, Nebraska, Texas, and Pitt!

Whenever this “on a decline” statement is made, i just want to ask, from what point? 2019 was NOT a “down” year and this year was a team full of underclassmen in major positions having dealt with all the many gut punches COVID-19 gave them, arguably more than any other NCAA team. The lack of faith and foresight from fans is more troubling to me than anything else… My lack of faith and foresight has nothing to do with it because foreseeing Coach Ang and Hanna leave was not something I foresaw. Kapish? Nah no Kapish, change your Volleytalk tribe status if all you have is disparagement and coulda woulda shouldas

I don’t know how we consider this a down season when the team made the second round.

I don’t know how we consider this a down season when the team made the second round. I consider a down season cause we lost Hanna and coach Ang. So that's being down for sure.

My lack of faith and foresight has nothing to do with it because foreseeing Coach Ang and Hanna leave was not something I foresaw. Kapish? Kapish…. I’m sorry I have to add to this and I don’t really mean this is a bad way. Whoever rebuts the “on the decline” argument by bringing up 2019 needs to question their own sight in general. 2019 was one year. A year where Hawaii was fortunate to pull 3 PAC-12 level transfers to bolster their roster. How great it is that Jolie, BVS and Bailey decided it was right for them to go to Hawaii. They came playing a high level of volleyball and were no strangers to the level that a team like UW brings. This was proven tonight with BVS being the only effective attacker for long stretches of time. If Hawaii is going to be consistent year in and year out, they have to win big matches like this more times than not to look more attractive to the higher level recruits. I love Hawaii volleyball because it’s where I grew up but I can love it and still be realistic at the same time. Stating that the program is “on the decline” is not a death sentence. It’s really where it’s at. Robyn has done well but she’s not a magician and it will take time. Money is also a major issue and so is the isolation from the continent and the Big West. When you look at this match big picture, Hawaii tried their best but your best is only going to be what you know. They haven’t seen a Hoffman level attacker enough to know how to defend her. Nor have they seen that type of consistent service pressure and size. Please keep having faith because that’s what makes a fan/fan base special. But be realistic at the same time.

Is UW this good? Is UH that bad? UW is good, they've been underrated all season long. They've been real sharp and focused especially the last half of conference play

I agree with everything you say and when I meant on the decline meant not what it once was. A shadow of it's former greatness. Times change I also agree. I'm not angry just disappointed that the Wahine (even though they're young) played so poorly in this match. It could have been closer. But then again Wahine didn't have the luxury of being able to settle down and work things out. They literally got slaughtered. Yeah, they're young but that's what happens when you meet a veteran team with top recruits.

People need to remember, the Wahine have not played since 2019, did not even have a Spring season. The first time the majority of this Wahine team even came together to practice was this past August. So winning the BWC Title, and getting to the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament is quite remarkable, especially with so many Freshmen. Whereas, Uw had a Spring 2021 season, then fall practice and a 2021 season.
Cannot wait to see what the Wahine can do next year, especially with having a Spring season, going into their 1st fall practice. How much each an every single returning Wahine player improves after having a Spring practice season. Not to mention having a full off season in the weight room. Robyn and staff have players to build next year's team around, it is not like they are going into the Spring practice season and fall practice with the cardboard bare. People need to remember also, we have not even seen Demirtas play yet. Robyn and staff know what they are doing, and know what each returning player needs to work on to improve. Whether it is in skill level, or in the weight room. If all the underclassmen return, I can see the Wahine being a Top 20, if not, a Top 10 team next year.

Robyn will do her best to recruit, she will continue to train them to be physically strong and you damn well know she will innovate when needed. I’m excited to see 2022.

Volleyball is alive and well. Cheers!
