well there wasn’t a loss so I have nothing to blame anyone for! no but seriously, it was an absolutely horrible coaching decision and I will stand by that opinion forever. Bays played incredible for at least the first 3 sets tonight and really never broke down passing (some defensively) but Texas made the comeback because… well they went away from serving her. Except you don't know for certain it was Elliott's decision, and not one of the other assistant coaches' decisions, or a collective strategy. This need to assess "blame" is so juvenile. I know you follow Texas (at least recently); but, we win as a team/program, and we lose as a team/program. As far I'm concerned, you can ditch the blame-game.

I mentioned it on another thread, but I don't think she had a single attack in S1. That's going to be a sign of trouble for Texas regardless of who we're playing. That's a tell-tale sign of one's passing. Usually when the passing is there, your middle should be your first option. But Washington had Texas in a funk with their passing early on. I agree. They all looked stressed and tentative on S1.

I was told about Washington by Washington fans: 2. The team has very good defense - check I definitely wouldn't agree with this. Washington's defense was suspect all year. They were 248th in the country in opponent hitting percentage at .222.

Yeah, it was noted by Sunderland that Udub was last in the PAC 12 in digs; but, they sure played well defensively for 2.5 sets last night.

While very risky (and frustrating) for the first 2.5 sets, the strategy to serve her worked in the end. Coming out of the pivotal 10-15 timeout when the energy of the crowd kicked up a notch, Bays served out. From that point on, she started losing confidence and UW back row coverage changed. Back row players started covering her and jumping in front of her to take serves. It wasn’t obvious on TV, was pretty clear to see the implosion in person.

Set 4 was foreshadowed when UW Plated WSU at home and we’re down 1 to 13. Believe it has to do with the weak offensive rotation they start out in. Also why did the ncaa tourney not allow keeping challenges? Takes too long? Sigh

Yes, all the ones not called that should have been. Have you seen Hilley & Sedwich the last 5 years? Refs have been letting doubles go all over the place and very consistently.

And as far as I’m concerned, the head coach always has the final say. I’ve worked within a D1 program. But also, I was born and raised in Texas as a Texas fan, and have been specifically following and cheering for Texas volleyball since Haley Eckerman, which might not seem like a long time, but that was MIDDLE SCHOOL for me. I’m just hoping we don’t come out and serve Lexi Rodriguez all game lol, I think the PROGRAM learned their lesson on that one though.

But not the NCAA

But not the NCAA yes I'm aware of that, but I thought that was the reason for the whole experiment in conferences (Kentucky v. Wash last spring) to see if it could work and possibly have it during tourney time.
