USAV has tons of sway here... they need to step up and say/do something. Playing in Louisiana twice doesn't sound as bad as in Russia once now... USA doesnt actually play in Russia. They're playing in Canada that week. I think its european teams in Russia that week... maybe China? I'm saying in general. It doesn't matter who is supposed to play in Russia, no one should be playing there and their teams banned. Since the US always hosts on the cheap, I'm sure Bossier City would love another round of vb, unless their arena is in such high demand... lol

It should be in Turkey. Volleyball is literally booming there. Part of it is because of soccer fans... which is both good and bad... but FIVB loves money... and they have the facilities to do so.

IOC urges sports bodies to cancel or move venues from Russia. Winter sports changing venues (skiing, curling, etc.). Canada already said yesterday that their athletes won’t compete in ski cross events scheduled in Russia. This will likely soon trickle down to summer sports.

excellent news. needed to happen. Given that Russia is an aggressor in a war of invasion against Ukraine and sanctioned increasingly heavily by the West, there is no alternative but to pull the matches from Russia.

If Russia gets banned from playing at VNL this year, would the next team in the world rankings get called up to play (I believe it is Bulgaria) or would it be the runner-up team from the VNL Challenge Cup (Czech Republic)?

Someone should sponsor Bulgaria then if their team is short of cash...

Someone should sponsor Bulgaria then if their team is short of cash... They really could have a solid team if Vuchkova and Rabadzhieva suited up. Those additions and a coaching upgrade could make them quite competitive. They have two other solid middles, a good libero, a serviceable setter and a decent bag of left side hitters behind Vasileva. They, oddly enough, don't have a decent opposite. Carutasu should be looking to naturalize there instead of Turkey. Just sayin'.

And are either eligible to play this summer?
