Time is getting short for any last minute roster additions. I know the coaching staff is very close-mouthed about recruiting, but any rumors out there?

I watched the Illinois-Missouri match last year. I do not recall Burbage one way or the other. All I remember about Missouri is they were about as bad a D1 team as is possible - probably would have finished middle of the pack in the GLVC. Their passing made our passing look stellar. Having said that, it isn’t fair to draw a conclusion about Burbage based on her Missouri stats. It’s a team game and requires 2 good touches for a middle or a right side to get a hittable ball. Not a lot of that from the team I saw.

I miss the Illini Classic! I miss it as well. However, I believe we have a very volleyball-savvy coach in Chris Tamas. He has put together the best schedule he could to give Illinois a chance to advance to the NCAA tourney. In Tamas I trust!

OPP is not a mystery - Burbage will fill the spot nicely. Already invited to train with NT/College team. She will be as good or better than Cooney. You are dreaming if you believe Burbage will equal what Cooney has done. Missouri was awful last year - and still her numbers did not compare to Cooney’s. So you are comparing a freshman on a sub par team with Cooneys? That makes no sense. Let’s see what our coaches do with her. Cooney did not really produce until her late Jr/Sr/5th year. The National team coaches think highly of her. Collegiate National Team. Mark this post please!

Taylor de Boer 6'4" OH highlights #15 I watched her national canadian team play earlier today. Lots of potential but she needs to be more quick and explosive. I think weight training and getting in the gym will do well for her

I have just returned from a brunch with other Illini faithful. The belief seems to be that a new Illini Volleyball Era is beginning. At 70+ I hope this is true. Everybody believes in Coach Tamas and his qualities. They miss old coaches, but totally believe in Coach Tamas and AD Whitman!

Everybody believes in Coach Tamas and his qualities. They miss old coaches, but totally believe in Coach Tamas and AD Whitman! I agree with you about Coach Tamas. As probably the only other 70+ poster, I could use some of your patience. Still, watching the staff and the way they develop players will carry me well into my dotage. Any rumors about transfers or recruits?

A couple items of note from recent Coach Tamas tweets:
Looks like both Raina and D Brown have some NIL deals!
Photos from the recent UIUC team camps show that Beth Prince and Ryan Anton are both around! Appreciate their continued involvement with the Illini.

Did Beth Prince play internationally after graduating from University of Illinois? Beth was an exemplary Illini on and off the court, team player, and a leader. Agreed- a great Illini! I don’t think Beth played after her UIUC career. Think she had been working on a graduate degree during her redshirt senior year and the year after that when she was our frequent student broadcast analyst on Illinois BTN+ games. Good to see her still repping the orange and blue.

Illini coincidence today that it is 'Illinois Day' on the BTN (the volleyball team will appear 3 times), and also Ali Bastianelli's 25th birthday. Four years after "Kid Block's" final collegiate season, the middle blocker still stands as the team leader in total blocks (750) and block assists (685). The 3-time AVCA All-American from Marysville, Michigan, played two seasons (2015 & 2016) for Kevin Hambly and two seasons (2017 & 2018) for current Illini coach, Chris Tamas. As well as distinguishing herself on the volleyball court, she also succeeded in the classroom being awarded the prestigious Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor. Volleyball has continued to be an important part of Ali B's life as she has played for two professional teams and also served as a volunteer coach the last two seasons for Michigan. She's now a member of Athletes Unlimited. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALI!

Just about 1 - month until the first match of the preseason. Does anyone know when the team reports to campus?
