Looking at the schedule - we finish 17-13 and if we upset one the biggies 18-12. 18-12 with two signature wins against big teams should get us in the tourney. Just have to make sure we beat Michigan & NW for sure. That would be sweet! Both Iowa and Indiana have been playing well lately, too, so we gotta be ready for all of them. But cool to still have tourney hopes alive!

From Sunday's News-Gazette: Though Tamas served as an assistant coach at Minnesota from 2011-12 and his wife, Jennifer, played for McCutcheon on the U.S. national team, don’t expect him to head up north in any capacity other than as Illinois’ head coach. “We love being here and that’s all I’ll say,” Tamas said. “It would take something really difficult for me to leave this place. We’ve fell in love with Champaign, the community, everything else and so we’re really happy here and want to be here for as long as they’ll have us.” Reading over this quote again and it is such classic Coach speak. What do we really expect him to say - yea I’m hoping to get a call from the MN AD? I don’t doubt he is happy at IL but I’m sure he could be equallly happy el$ewhere also.

I work for a college and have had opportunities to go work at other schools for more money. I’ve chosen to remain where I am because I have a good gig and like where I am. It could be coach speak, but it’s also possible he’s truly happy at Illinois and plans to remain there indefinitely. Sometimes it not just about the money.

I get that, but also x factors like easier to recruit, better facilities, perhaps more support from administration. I get these x factors (I had several to consider myself), but there are likely other factors we don't know about. We all have different priorities, goals and plans. Not only do I have a good gig and like where I am, but I also stayed because I wanted to accomplish the goals I set when I started. I felt a sense of duty and loyalty to my supervisor and to the school. Tamas often talks about loyalty, so this may also be a factor that would keep him at Illinois.

Would love to see him stay and be given the facilities and resources to compete with the big guns on the recruiting trail.

I didn’t get to watch the match against WI but noticed in the box score Illinois had 27 hitting errors. They essentially spotted the Badgers with 9 points per set. I’m sure the Wisconsin block was a factor but it’s hard to win matches when you give away that many points. Let’s hope they regroup quickly and have a better show against Minnesota this weekend.

I don't understand why Brown did not go to the middle more than she did. Wisconsin camped on Terry, witness the number of times she was blocked. Mosher couldn't find the line on her hard cross-court shot. Some of the lack of the middle can be blamed on passing, but there were a fair number of times when Brown simply did not go to the middle even when the pass would have permitted it. She went to Collins a few times with the pass was off the net, and Collins was able to open up and make an effective attack. As often as not the Wisconsin block did not bother going up with our middles. Terry's job is impossible without some deception from the middle.

She lives and dies by the one OH…she did it with Quade, then with Cooney, and now Terry. With Tamas as a premiere setter himself, how do you not fix this? if she can’t set a diverse offense, step in and give her a playbook to follow.

Hey party people! Just received an email from the ticket office that there'll be additional parking and a shuttle at Bielfeldt tomorrow before and after the match. Here's the body of the email: Illinois athletics is pleased to announce that it will be providing shuttle bus transport service for the Illinois volleyball match against Minnesota tomorrow.
Fans can park in Lot E9 (Bielfeldt Lot) and be transported to Huff Hall. The shuttle will run 75 minutes prior to the match and roughly 60 minutes following the conclusion of the match.

Big shoutout to Jess Nunge on her FULL return to the lineup today! An inspiring performance in many ways, including the best back row defense I think we've seen from Jess- several timely digs and saved plays. Handling six rotations off the bench and lifting the Illini to within a couple points of victory against a heavy favorite. Always seems to have a visible positive impact on her teammates when she's on the court. Good to have you back, #14!

Agreed. It was great to see Nunge back in a larger roll. She brings great energy to the court.

Very impressed with Nunge, coming off an injury and barely missing a beat, in fact she looked better defensively post injury. Mosher also did pretty well on the right side too, some awesome heavy D ball swings and defensive plays. Thanks for scaring the crap out of Gopher fans last night 🤝

Given that our tournament hopes likely died this weekend, at what point do we start speculating about next year's roster?
