Given that our tournament hopes likely died this weekend, at what point do we start speculating about next year's roster? Once the portal opens up.

Swanson, Collins, Hinton and Nunge each have a covid year available. Interesting to see who stays and who goes. I think Brown may also but I’m pretty sure she is off to med school.

Illinois looked like a tournament team to me yesterday. MN seemed to have no answer to Mosher or Terry I don't know what Nunge's return means, or how long she was out, but the committee, looking at last 10 and IL competitiveness vs WI & MN as factors worth something's based on your front loaded schedule you need to win out and have NW and Michigan win out except vs you. Penn State & Michigan both have much tougher tasks ahead. Either/both could falter
Would that do enough for your RPI to merit consideration?

If we do, it’ll be by some miracle or B1G bias the committee has. Even if we make it in, i don’t see us making it out of the first weekend, unfortunately.

A couple of early morning observations and questions.
We are now 0-5 in five set matches. What is our problem with closing out close matches? Was Cooney’s on-court presence the difference between last year and this year, as the talent is roughly similar?
Has Swanson been warming up - is she still injured or has Hinton simply won the competition?
I assume after Sunday Nunge is back to playing full time. Has Mosher won the opposite position for the balance of the year?
Generally our middles have played well and the problem is they are under utilized. Collins’ numbers Sunday were terrible and it appears she is not as mobile as last year. Is Bingham available when our middles are struggling, or are our middle struggles because of passing or setting? The one match Bingham played I thought she played well enough to get more playing time.

Also, I disagree that we are a first round out if by some miracle we make the tournament. I think (hope?) we are some intangible away from turning the corner and could go a long way if we make post-season play. Either Tamas or an on-court leader simply needs to figure out what the intangible might be and then execute.

5-set question - I would imagine fatigue is a big factor. Other teams sub more than us.
Yes, Swanson's been going thru warm-ups. Looks like Hinton won the spot.
Mosher is a lock. Nunge took over for Burbage, who didn't see the court after that.

If the committee is willing to take 8 B1G teams, Illinois has the best shot at taking that spot. They have the easiest schedule of that third tier of teams in the conference down the stretch, but they have to win the games they should win and have to beat Michigan, Indiana & Northwestern.
