An impressive group of recruits. What I found particularly impressive though was Taylor De Boer's answer to "Why Illinois?" Having read hundreds, maybe thousands, of these statements by incoming recruits this one really stands out for its writing quality, thoughtfulness, and pinpointing of exactly why a top recruit might want to consider coming to Illinois. Frankly, it couldn't have been written or summarized any better if it had been written by a professional marketing copywriter. The coaching staff might want to consider getting this etched in bronze and placed over the entrance to Huff Hall so every visiting recruit can see it.

Excited to see Taylor & Gabby on the court. Could be a Raina & Taylor 1-2 punch on the outside next year. Gabby might be able to come in and start in the MB if none of our seniors come back for a second year. I wonder if Tamas hits the transfer portal for another OH /DS if Nunge doesn’t get a Covid Year.

Brooke with an impressive game tonight:
13 kills, hitting .440, two aces, five blocks, seven digs, and two assists! Well done!

Brooke's been so good on the pins that I'd almost wondered if Tamas would pursue a scholarship transfer setter : ). We'll have both May and Imoto-Eakin as setting options, too. It'll be fun to see what pins enter the portal this offseason. With Ellie and Maddie medically retiring, Tamas might have an extra scholarship or two to work with.

Why is Burbage not playing?

Why is Burbage not playing? After the lopsided first set of the home Minnesota match, Tamas inserted Jess in at OH, shifted Brooke to OPP, and the team responded really well. He kept that same lineup this match and they swept MSU. Brooke went off for 13 kills, hitting .440 at OPP tonight. Burbage drew into the game a couple times tonight as a blocking sub for D Brown when she was at front right.

IIRC, Tim Ditman mentioned last week that Brown, Nunge and Hinton were not returning next year. I'm not sure if this is true, but I'm fairly certain he stated this during the broadcast. If Nunge doesn't return, Tamas will definitely need to pick up another pin hitter or two from the portal. He didn't mention Collins or Swanson - it's possible they may not yet know what they will do or he may know what their plans are.

If Illinois does need to pick up pin hitters from the portal, I think they will be able to find them. It would be a desirable destination, especially amongst grad transfers.

With Covid eligibility the lineup from last night with Mosher setting and Burbage at opposite could be our lineup next year.

The Collins/Brown middle quick connection has been difficult to watch this season. Is there a big difference between the sets that Rylee wants versus what Kennedy wants? Just wondering why one connection is so good while the other one is so off.
