The weekend in Milwaukee is killing us. I still don’t understand what happened against Illinois State.

tentative rpi has illinois right at 65. needed that minnesota win, but strong wins against indiana and northwestern will leave us with a razor thin chance at the tournament. I don't have a great grasp on RPI but I think we want both Michigan and Northwestern to win all their remaining matches against other opponents aside from Illinois? Essentially the moonshot would have all three of us making the tournament, I would think. I don't know, maybe I've got that wrong. Either way we'll savor the remaining four matches and the likely final volleyball for some of our great seniors. Hopefully Kyla will draw into the lineup against either Michigan State or Iowa so we can salute her at Huff!

Would also think we want PSU to keep winning since that's our only signature win.

tentative rpi has illinois right at 65. needed that minnesota win, but strong wins against indiana and northwestern will leave us with a razor thin chance at the tournament. It's definitely a longshot, but I do see a sliver of a chance. The poor RPI is the main impediment, and given who the remaining opponents are it's not going to get too much better. But here's what I see as the wild card that could come into play. First, the Illini need to win all 4 remaining matches. Not automatic, but very doable. Second, looking at the remaining matches for Penn State and Purdue, I see a strong possibility that Penn State loses at least 2 matches (Wisconsin and Minnesota) and Purdue loses at least 1 (Nebraska). In addition, Penn State and Purdue play each other, so that would be either a 3rd loss for Penn State or a 2nd loss for Purdue. Net result: Illinois ends up in a 2-way tie for 5th place in the B1G! Also doesn't hurt that several other technically meaningful ranking systems have moved up the Illini. Rich Kern has them at 28, Pablo has them at 34, and Massey at 35. Definitely still a longshot, but IF the committee is going to take 7 teams from the B1G, it would be tough to say the team that finished tied for 5th shouldn't go, especially with the ratings of these other credible rating services.

Illini RPI cannot approach a number that committee will accept. The next four matches are against teams that combine for a record of 49-61. That does not help their chances.

Really glad to hear that the Illini are also going to honor Ellie on Sunday during Senior Day ceremony! Tamas said as much during his weekly appearance on the NG Sportstalk podcast.

Based on these videos, it doesn't sound like Collins or Nunge will be returning for their COVID year of eligibility.

I have a permanent visual of Swanson providing the last point in the win against Kentucky.

Based on these videos, it doesn't sound like Collins or Nunge will be returning for their COVID year of eligibility. Based on football, walking on senior day doesn't preclude coming back. They may just be unsure. I'm still betting on Collins returning for her COVID year.
