My thoughts - 1. Lund & Rodriguez seem too high. They definitely deserve to be on a team, but not sure about 1st team. 2. I'm surprised by Grome, Grote & Monserez on 2nd team. 3. Koerber & Matthews should've been up on 2nd team. 4. Cleveland, Tealer & S. Gray should've been higher than HM. 5. Seems like BYU got the shaft this year. Only AA is Koerber on 3rd team. Yikes! Grome 2nd team and Miner not even HM, or did I miss something? You got it |

I don't even know who you are, but I'm glad I've left such an impression on you in only 80 posts... Better argue why subjectively Rodriguez should be first team then! You'll notice that it's only Nebraska fans supporting her selection... I think other liberos deserved the First Team nod more, and I haven't just relied on "GBR!" to take that position. It's comical that as soon as anyone tries to use data or logical reasoning to make a point about a Husker player, they're suddenly anti-Nebraska. I've never been anti-Nebraska. I joined this forum as a Nebraska fan! I am, however, anti-favoritism. I don’t know if it’s necessary to make an argument when both the B1G coaches and AVCA thought it? Where did I make it seem "blasphemous?" That would be odd, given I had her at Third Team. |

I personally think they are both deserving of where they are. Grome stepped into the shoes of the reigning national player of the year and did a great job. Kentucky’s early exit isn’t just on her shoulders and shouldn’t be. Nebraska without Roddy wouldn’t be in the final four. She has transformed this team into a national title contender once again and for a libero…well you just don’t see that too often. I mean, yes Roddy is very big for Nebraska but they are still probably the best defensive team in the country without her. No one has two DS that are as good as akana and knuckles. And no one has a setter who is as good defensively as hames. And Kubik is one of the best backcourt OHs in the country. It’s not like Roddy is carrying this Nebraska team and defense on her shoulders. I agree that they probably wouldn’t be here without her, but they wouldn’t be here without probably any of the starters from the Texas match. It’s not about what you do for your team, it’s about how good you are for the AA lost and I don’t think Roddy showed that she is better than fleck or Barnes You’re right, Nebraska has so many great pieces that has led them here. But Roddy is by far and away the leader of that defensive unit. I respectfully disagree that it isn’t about what you do for your team and argue that it’s all about what you do for your team. If your teams makes it as far as the final four, then your impact on the team is measured. Of course I agree that you will be measured against others as well. Even at that, personally I feel that Roddy has shown herself to be deserving though there is an argument for Fleck because she is fantastic. All in all, if the teams were reversed I still wouldn’t have a problem with it because at the end of the day we are speaking on 3 outstanding defensive players that mean a lot to their respective teams. |

So proud of Lexi Rodriquez! What a stud! I'm a little shocked at Kubik only getting 3rd team? I feel like she should have been 2nd team atleast?? Numbers work against her. Not at all surprised |

The only thing I don’t get is Kubic at 3rd team who hit .207 on the year over one of the likes of one of the Skinner sisters, especially Avery. Not a hate Nebraska statement but can’t believe the Jersey didn’t have something to do with that. I think it’s a lot of respect for the completeness of her game. I’m happy people recognize that. Also most important player on her team that’s in FF |

Looking at the criteria, it's interesting Butler made the 1st team.
The guidelines for Middle Blockers are at least 2.44 k/s... Butler only has 1.96 k/s
Guidelines for Middle Blockers
1. Points Per Set (2.75) - Butler has 2.56 pt/s
2. Hitting % (.300) - Butler has .466
3. Blocks per set (1.00) - Butler has 1.16
To me it's not like she did enough to be above and beyond to fit the 1st team AA criteria. If anything, this screams 2nd team.

Are Roddy's digs per set not comparable to those listed? I'll admit, I was a little surprised she made 1st team, but are the stats really that far off?
Regardless of who thinks she should or shouldn't have made the list, for her to be in the same league as these seniors is pretty remarkable.

Regardless of who thinks she should or shouldn't have made the list, for her to be in the same league as these seniors is pretty remarkable. She's at 4.4 Digs per set which is interesting because the criteria states that Libero's should be at 4.5 digs per set. I feel like Kayla Caffey was pretty robbed from first team if Nebraska was going to get anyone. She averages 2.37 k/s, hits over .300, has over 1.00 blocks per set and is over 3.00 pt/s. Either way, I'm definitely happy for Roddy and Nebraska. Definitely rooting for them to beat Pitt. |
