something that I was thinking while Texas was playing in the tournament was how we faced opponents who had really good block statistics, ranking in the top 50 (Georgia, San Diego, Louisville), and how in the final four, (per NCAA stats) we were the team with the least amount of blocks per set. Just thought it was really interesting and how our own stats for blocking really went up in the tournament, and our opponents blocking, while a factor, was not as big of a factor as I thought it would be. I mean even in the final, we outblocked Louisville 9-4. So impressive and shows how our hitters were being covered really well and swinging smart I feel like there was a lot of trust, too. Hitters didn't feel a need to take a huge rip at every ball, because they had confidence the floor defense would give them another good whack at it. But the block coverage was absolutely insane at times. I also found the comments during the finals interesting, about the Louisville coaches putting blue tape at the net to show where the Texas attacks came from, because they were unusual compared to other teams. joetrinsey talked about it in his conversations about the matches. Much of it was behind a paywall, but the portions that weren't talked about taking swings a little further in than normal to give the hitters better angles. Which is exactly what Texas has done this year. There's also the fact the serves were putting opponents off balance with regularity, while Texas more frequently hit in system. Especially in transition. Texas might not get the kill with a specific hit, but it was a good enough attack it put the other team off balance, which allowed Texas to take advantage of an in system attack after the ball came over. Again, a lot of that came from Joe Trinsey's analysis, where he identified UT's transition attack as the biggest difference maker in the tournament matches. Been thinking this a lot lately - seems our transition offense was much tidier and efficient than in years past. That back row D had a lot to do with it.

I noticed something that may very well be nothing but here it is lol.
Carlee Pharris (R-FR) Setter from TCU is following Sullivan, Elliott and Elliott’s wife, Kenna, Molly, Reilly and Reese (2024). Kenna, Reilly and Reese all follow back.
Her boyfriend plays baseball at UT and she’s originally from San Antonio.
If they do go after another setter I don’t think she’d be the one but I’m not a NC winning coach lol.
Could be nothing but it definitely caught my eye.

Started thinking about it...and if you think about it, Jerritt is also a portal player:
"Elliott played collegiate volleyball at Pepperdine in 1986-88 and at Hawai’i during the 1989-90 season."
I also believe that's why he keeps a constant eye on Hawai'i players.

It hadn't occurred to me until just now to look at the stats. I knew pretty much everyone of our attackers was on target as the match was being played. So, I assumed it was a match were some of the posters weren't begging for Elliott to yank a starter in favor of someone else. Asjia .643 Madi .407 Logan .341 Molly .313 Kayla .000 texassports.com/sports/womens-volleyball/stats/2022/-4-louisville/boxscore/15299

Coach Elliott's comments early in the year seem to have been verified: "Our team is the deepest I've ever had as a coach, it's the most talent I've ever had... .We know we have talent."

I’m so thankful. I’m honored to be the one that got to coach with these women. I’m honored to be the one who leads this program. I’m honored that Chris Plonsky, who’s sitting in the back, hired me and believed in me when I was wet behind the years at 32 years old or 31."

anyone at the tower lighting? I went to the photo shoot. The tower top was already lit to acknowledge the men and women's basketball teams winning today. And then, you notice that the "1" is lit visible on the tower. The whole tower is not bathed in burnt orange (at the time), but the bottom has the orange glow of lights.
First saw some of the assistant coaches. Then Jerritt and his wife showed up. Then the team showed up together with Singletary carrying the trophy like a baby. I have a picture of Asjia talking to Singletary and caressing the base of the trophy like she's still in awe.
The girls spread out and signed lots of balls and t-shirts for fans of all ages. There was a slightly awkward exchange between Baby Spice and a fan. It went something like this:
Fan: Congrats on your victory Halter: Thank you! Fan: So what are your plans to follow up? Halter: Ummm, excuse me? Fan: I mean you won the national championship in your freshman year. That's pretty amazing. What can you to top that? Halter: Uhhhh, yeah...I mean yeah I don't know
And next to her was Kenna Miller who kinda muttered under her breath, "It's still a bit unbelievable"
I would post the pictures here, but it's all pretty standard of these players we've seen closeup on TV.
Anyway, it was cold and getting colder while the photographer was getting them lined up so my son (in shorts) and I were leaving to go home. There was a crowd about 10 deep and there was no way we could take pictures over their heads. Anyway the professional picture will drop on social media about 30 minutes after the photos are taken.
But as we pulled up, two tour buses showed up and it was the Men's basketball team there to support them.

There was a slightly awkward exchange between Baby Spice and a fan. Thank you for the detailed summary! Bummed that I missed it tonight. On the flight home from Omaha now. I’m glad I wasn’t there for that exchange with Emma. Not that she needed any defending, but I probably would have jumped in and said something along the lines of “Give her a break and let her enjoy the moment!”

I’m thinking about taking my mom down but she can’t walk a ton. Do you know what’s the best chance at close parking? The street in front of fountain is a public street. You could drop her off and then try for curb parking that runs perpendicular to that street where they have churches along that street. Worse case you park in the lot next to Jester dorm? I have to figure this out myself! This is exactly what we ended up doing thanks!! We got some great autographs and pics too ❤️🤘🏼
