Re: NIL. Can a booster just sort ‘gift’ a player tuition room and board? Maybe through a legit business or something, but it’s like... here’s 50k to ‘represent’ my law office or doctor’s office or something? Yes, but they have to have some activity to show they are promoting or advertising for that legitimate business. It just can't be here's 40k, which might be the equivalent of tuition room & board and monthly cost of attendance scholarship athletes get, now go perform and if you do well I will renew it next year. That's the thing, all of this NIL $$ is through actual contracts that outline the services the athlete will provide for the $$ and are accessible to make sure the condition you stated is not being abused. Conferences and NCAA should be able to review all legal endorsement, NIL, services, etc. contracts if there are concerns of (Southwest Conference style) payments.

Re: NIL. Can a booster just sort ‘gift’ a player tuition room and board? Maybe through a legit business or something, but it’s like... here’s 50k to ‘represent’ my law office or doctor’s office or something? To look less seemly, Texas is giving their players money to participate in a "charity". Texas started the Clark Field initiative (Clark Field is an old field on campus) in which boosters donated money to start an initial $10M fund. From there, they will create sub-funds for the various sports. They then created a sub-fund called the "Pancake Factory", which will give each Offensive Lineman $50K a year as long as they're enrolled Fall 2022. When they created the fund, Texas had 2 OL commits. Since then, they've picked up 4 highly sought OL line commits, with another possibly committing in Feb 2022. They "will gladly" participate in charity work during the year. And before Clark Field was set up, a local business started a NLI program called "Burnt Ends" just to fund Tight Ends.
I was thinking what they might call a VB sub-fund, if they decide to do that.
One name I thought of was "Block House". But then that sounds like a wing of a prison, and it seems to only point to those who block at the net. So, no on that. And "Pancake" is already taken, so no on that. There is always the WE. ARE. TEXAS. name that is appropriate for Texas VB, plus it has the secondary action of driving non-Texas fans crazy.

On the other hand, Pierce was destined for RS as well, but the emergency at Tech caused her to burn her shirt.
It was obvious that those two were destined for RS when Jerritt would not allow either to play during some garbage minutes.
At the beginning of this season, she was wearing a big knee brace. Later on the brace came off but she was not moving well at all. Even watching her in warm-ups toward the end of the year it looked like she was jumping with only 75% effort. It seems to have been a long slow recovery from her knee surgery. I think it was ACL repair? Hopefully we'll see her play in the fall.

If she is ready for the fall and assuming everyone will be back we will have 4 MBs, 6 OHs, 2 S, 3 DS/L (not including if we pick up a transfer) that’s a lot of depth in every position so I fully expect players to be mixed in the lineup throughout the season. Especially for someone like logan who carries such a big load for us giving her a game or two to just relax and not have to worry about playing just to have her at full strength for the tournament will be key.
