I am not trying to troll, really, is EMP coming back for next fall? I had seen that as a point of debate earlier in the season. Washington will have another good setter, but not her as a super senior. Maybe a meteor will come from the sky and kill us all. Let next fall take of itself. There has been no indication that she isn't coming back.

thank you for this. cook & co aren't known for developing back row abilities though? I don't see how they can take the back row defense to the next level without some crucial changes to coaching? Not sure what you mean by "crucial changes to coaching." I think Cook is well aware of the team's defensive deficiencies and repeatedly emphasized the importance of playing very high level team defense this season. And, indeed, we have seen the team perform at a high level in spurts -- just not consistently. We might agree that if UW played Nebraska-level floor defense, we might very well be playing later today. That should be the goal, but let's face it -- Nebraska likely has the best floor defense in the country. Personally, I don't think coaching changes are needed. I think the changes start with who UW recruits and I think maybe that has started to change with the recruitment of Lauren Bays. Championship teams need elite liberos and they need elite back row defenders. Playing Claire Hoffman and Sam Drechsel in the back row is a compromise -- they are relatively slow, big defenders who will never be elite diggers/passers/defenders. They are actually pretty darn good, all things considered, but it is still a compromise. Teams like Wisconsin and Nebraska are able to play a variety of players in the back row who are superb servers and can dig all day long. That should be the goal; the question is whether Cook can consistently recruit this caliber of player. I agree with this. If you’re going to take anything from the Nebraska defensive game plan it’s simply recruit 3 studs. Akana, Knuckles and Rodriguez were an absurdly good trio. Then add in Hames as a good defender as well and you’ve got something.

I remember when Jason Mansfield was brought in from Illinois with a focus on defense and passing - he's now coaching the hitters. Unless Jason gets a head coaching job offer he can't refuse or Leslie decides to retire, I don't see any coaching shake-up.
I'm looking for a major improvement from Bush. She's got the height, length, and athletic ability to be a major offensive force. Think Bajema.
Summers, in a supporting role, outhit Grote, .489 to .415, on the season. This is her time to shine, with three years of eligibility remaining. Think Rowland and Sybeldon.

Jason Mansfield has been AC forever. I wonder if that's what he's content with, or he might want to be a HC someday.

I know Keegan recently became a dad, their due date was around two weeks ago so I doubt he moves to Penn State if he was offered

For Keegan (and all other coaches) this is his career, and like all of us with all things considered, do what is best for themselves. That being said, I think and hope what is best for him and his family is to stay at UW. He likes it and is well liked here. A few other schools may pay somewhat better, but where do you have to live to get it?

WNT Open Program for this year. Surprised no EMP, Grote or others. Wilmes and Crenshaw have beach so maybe didn't want to overextend themselves.

She's been in the pipeline for a while, so thinking that may be the case. Also, possibly Grote as she had a great year.
