No Dani Cole ...
Who is the one in front of Ella (next to Emoni)? Maeve?
It looks like all the ones who are with the Beach team are not there (Olivia, Audra. Maeve)

I think it's SO COOL that Tama Miyashiro has been a coach for USVB WNT for some years now. Is there any discussion somewhere about how she got to do that and what it's like? (That is her, right?)

Well, she played for them for a long time (including going to an Olympics), so I assume that's related to how she ended up working for them.

Yes, but a lot of people played for them over the years but (from an outsider's perspective) few have gone into coaching for them directly (?) from playing. I think it would be fun to learn how that came about and why. I assume she coaches liberos but what else? And why her, as opposed to other past liberos? As a fellow UW grad, I'm proud of her achievement. Edit: Moved for the first time to check her Wikipedia, I see she played on the National team for 3 years (2010-2012). Is that a long time in that world?

It's only been two years that we've been living with the COVID pandemic, and that sure seems like it has been a long time.
Anyway, I guess it would have been more accurate if I had just said she played for them and left it at that. "Long time" is ambiguous.

Looks like Dani Cole was practicing, so that answers that question.

Alright Dawg Pack..... spring season is here and the fall is right around the corner. My wish list for the players likely to see the floor:
Powell- Be more consistent: I don't want to sound too negative, but while she is a very good setter, I think her biggest issue is consistency. You can pin point many lost sets to less than ideal setting, even on good passes. In 2020 she was rehabbing, so that was too be expected, 2021 had some ups and downs, I'd like her to finish her college career walking into every match and not having to question her play.
Hoffman- Just stay healthy: From early on it was very clear that the play of Hoffman was critical in our big match wins. Always being somewhat of a 2nd hitting option (though primary when Dreschel was playing through inconsistency and injury) her ability to pass and score was the catalyst for big wins in the past and next year it will be no different. She's been bothered by injury off and on since day 1. She's probably the most underrated OH in her 2018 recruiting class and there are few pins I'd trade for her all around game and ability to score out of system. I'd like a 100% healthy season for her, do big things Claire!
Crenshaw- Swing like it's match point for the 18 open crown: Such an enigma player, I don't think she's particularly great at any one particular volleyball skill, but yet she's an invaluable teammate. I'd like to see more offense from her. Don't be passive, swing. I vividly recall watching the 18 open years ago and Crenshaw swung for the match playing for Top Select. It had deep range, high contact, and was powerful. Swing like that Shannon, swing like that.
Grote- Develop a boss b*tich attitude: MVP of the of the 2021 season. A breakout year. Solid defensively and ended up being one of the best slide attackers in the country. IMO, she needs that on court swagger to match it. You watch some of the true game changers last year (Samedy, Rettke, May, Eggleston) and when the camera pans to them after a kill or a big block, you can just see the look in their eyes- they know they are good, and they are going to show you. Sometimes when I watch Marin she just looks to playful. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I'd like to see her develop some on-court swagger. Demand the ball and post up against the competition.
Bays- take control: It's hard as a freshmen to assert themselves. I think Bays came off timid at times, but the libero role is hers now, and she'll be an anchor for this team for years to come and won't have the current seniors to lean on after this year. She needs to use this year to develop leadership in the backcourt and assert herself.
Summers- blocking blocking blocking: We haven't got to see her much as she's usually 3rd in the depth chart. But now it's her time to shine and I'd love for her to really focus on her ability to read the sets and close the blocks fast. I don't think it's too farfetched to say that blocking from her could end up being the difference maker of how far this team can go in the fall.
Endsley- move move move: I've said from day one that the biggest problem with Madi is that she doesn't move well enough for an OH. It completely changes what shot she can hit. I was dumfounded how often her tips found the floor, as it was pretty obvious she was going to it. Watch Claire Hoffman move around the court and then watch Endsley, it's no comparison. When Endsley can develop that type of movement, she'll be an All American offensive weapon.
Bush- Just steadily improve: Flashes of greatness last season....she could be a Bajema type progression if she keeps on working. Explosive athlete, just keep doing the damn thing.
Cole- Play a set?: no...really.... My wish is that you can be in the lineup for an extended period of time.
Wilmes- Play with nothing to lose. I love a new face that comes in balling.
*not trying to be negative in excluding the other players on the roster, but sans injury I don't see anyone else getting meaningful playing time beyond a DS role*
Crazy High Expectations: Pac-12 Champion, NC Title Appearance Realistic: Top 3 Pac-12, Elite 8 I'd be content with: Top 4 Pac-12, Sweet 16 Appearance
