Okay, about Caffey - I laughed. Was it the best response? No, but I completely understand where she was coming from. I am similar in that I need a bit to process my emotions before I can be articulate about an intense event, so I identified with the raw & real nature of it. No shade, girl. You were great. Also, my heart broke a little when Hames started crying in response to a question and said she’d just realized she was never gonna get to play with Stivrins again. Very genuine. I loathe Nebraska but Caffeys response was amazing and iconic. Her honesty in that situation made me like her even more.

Meanwhile Tionna Williams over here casually peeing her pants At the risk of being non-PC, sexist, etc, but just joking (I love T).... She recently had a baby. Cut her some slack. She may have just been the only one admitting it publicly too. Or for others, me, I just wanted to throw up!

She still needs to develop. People are trolling. I don't think it's a question of 'development'. I watch (too much of) players' social media video, etc, and she really seems to like it here and likes her teammates. etc. Yeah, let's see, play in front of 300, with some teammates you kind of know, or be on an amazing team and get a great education. I reread her "My Own Words" from earlier.

Lol *sees Hames crying* Interviewer: “what are your emotions after the match” Like I swear, people like Caffey are needed to keep it real. Her response to her question wasn’t nearly as bad as the question above. Exactly, dumbasses saying it's "not a good look" for her to say screw the hitting, I wanted to win a Natty. These are people who have never done anything.

I feel all of this, every last little bit. I don’t go back as far as you - my “origin story” is the 2006 Halloween sweep of Penn State - but the highs and lows are there all the same. I love these people so much. The players, coaches, staff, alums - Every single one of them had a part in this. You forgot to mention that Claudia Rodriguez, the 2000 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, began the 2000 first game finals against Nebraska with what looked like the start of a career night. She had 4 kills, each with increasing strength, before she went down with a match-ending injury. She looked unstoppable. If she could have finished the match, and with her big block, WI might have had their 1st Championship years ago instead of loosing in 5 games. 100% Wisconsin wins the 2000 finals if Claudia Rodriguez plays. 100%.

Her response to her question wasn’t nearly as bad as the question above. It's not the end of the world I realize -- but to actually PRAISE that sort of response as the "needed" sort of "keeping it real" is preposterous. If you don't want to talk then stay in the locker room. If you show up at a press conference, then step up and answer the question, as did Stivrins, Cook, and Hames. In my view they "kept it real" in a way that was respectful of the questioner and the overall situation, as was appropriate. I expect they were every bit as unhappy and disappointed as Caffey was.

Great match to watch. the defense played by both sides was amazing. How do you dig people that big who hit that hard.

Disagree. I am still trying to grasp why the NCAA thinks it's important to hear from the players that lost. Let them be.

I have asked a couple times, but have not gotten an answer (that I've seen, at least): does she have the option to "stay in the locker room"? One response said that the media requests which players come to the press conference, but I asked whether she allowed to "decline the request". For the record, I have ZERO problem with how she responded. You don't like my response? Don't "request" that I show up next time. Caffey doesn't owe any of us.

In my view they "kept it real" in a way that was respectful of the questioner and the overall situation, as was appropriate. Wasn't going to keep this going, but your response is preposterous. She was asked a leading question that was to the effect of, "How great was it that ___________?!" And she chose not to validate the @$$%*!* premise of the "journalist's" question. Athletes don't have to act grateful for losing, or for being asked stupid questions. She DID keep it real. Most of the questions asked these days in those interviews are "I have something I'd like you to say (and I'm not really interested in your real opinions), so I'm going to say 'How fantastic is it that ____blah, blah blah___?!?!!" And then the athlete is supposed to say, "Why it was MEGA-fantastic!!"...and that's supposed to pass for "journalism." Yeah, Kayla kept it real. She wasn't going there, and she didn't need to validate the @$$%*!*. I respect that.
