The press can ask the stupidist, almost rhetorical questions, so forgive the girl. Example:. Asking Dana Rettke if she made the right decision to come back for an additional year. I am well into adulthood and it would have taken everything in me not to respond with "Duh! What do you think?" |

My takeaway from that match is that Nebraska's defense is awesome, their fight is tremendous, Wisconsin is very good but also lucky to have escaped, and that it was a very exciting match. I am not "upset" about that response / non-response; my point was merely that if you don't want to provide a substantive response to a reasonable, non-provocative, run-of-the-mill question then you shouldn't attend a press conference as a team representative. I was very impressed by how the other Nebraska representatives handled themselves in a painful situation. Over and out. The press/SID’s school and NCAA request SPECIFIC players: the losing team must wait X cooling off period before they meet the press: she didnt answer question: i am completely un-impressed by your response above: and if you cant respond to a run of the mill response you shouldn’t be allowed to be member of this ptoboard: over and out |

GIVE HER A BREAK AND STOP KICKING WHILE SHE IS DOWN. Have you never had a bad day? Would you appreciate having it recycled by others? Celebrate the winners. Acknowledge the good in the losers. Gracious in winning, losing and watching. I think its the most odd thing to have players that just lost a heartbreaker be forced to answer questions right after the match. Maybe a few hours later but? |

Okay, to change the subject from dissection of the post match press conference, there were views of the Huskers leaving the court that pulled really hard on my heartstrings. As the camera zoomed out from Badgers hoisting the trophy, you could see the Nebraska players starting to break from their huddle and make their way off the court. Lots of hugging and obvious evidence of deep caring for each other.
On the WatchESPN replay it was at about 3:06 to 3:08. I'm not sure how to grab a short clip. I tried to save a URL with the right start time, but it doesn't seem to work. So here is a my favorite screen capture from that bit...
Damn, wish I could swallow this stupid lump in my throat.

Great match to watch. the defense played by both sides was amazing. How do you dig people that big who hit that hard. I was sitting with Taylor Morey a couple of years ago at a team dinner and asked her what it was like to dig a player like Alhassan. She said that the scouting report on her tendencies told her where to be at certain moments and all she had to do was be there and pop up the ball. It wasn't the answer I was looking for but I think it was what she was willing to give up  |

If we compare their collegiate careers, I would take Hilley on my team any day. Carlini made all americans, Hilley is surrounded by ready made all americans. This is one of those dumb arguments where people say Kershaw is lacking because he never won a world series (until he finally did) PS No further response will be forthcoming as you are a Carlini troll who uses any excuse or moment to take a shot at her I’m not a Carlini troll, I think Hilley had a better collegiate career. As far as my previous comments about her in the USA gym, she got beat out fair and square. Maybe it’s just that she’s not the volleyball god everyone assumed she was? With that said, congrats to the Badgers for their first Natty Championship…the badger fan base helps grow the sport and that’s evident with all of the media coverage and activity across social media today. I think I remember Nicklin once starting to say something like......."Oh, I thought you were going to ask about the game".....or something like that. These "reporters" I liken to the press corps in DC-they come up with a lot of stupid questions that are/were not at all relevant to the game just played...or about to happen. Cut Caffey some slack.
