Lol *sees Hames crying* Interviewer: “what are your emotions after the match” Like I swear, people like Caffey are needed to keep it real. Her response to her question wasn’t nearly as bad as the question above. It's not the end of the world I realize -- but to actually PRAISE that sort of response as the "needed" sort of "keeping it real" is preposterous. If you don't want to talk then stay in the locker room. If you show up at a press conference, then step up and answer the question, as did Stivrins, Cook, and Hames. In my view they "kept it real" in a way that was respectful of the questioner and the overall situation, as was appropriate. I expect they were every bit as unhappy and disappointed as Caffey was. lol no

If we compare their collegiate careers, I would take Hilley on my team any day. Carlini made all americans, Hilley is surrounded by ready made all americans. This is one of those dumb arguments where people say Kershaw is lacking because he never won a world series (until he finally did) PS No further response will be forthcoming as you are a Carlini troll who uses any excuse or moment to take a shot at her Along these lines, I was rewatching 2016 UW-Stanford a few weeks ago...with 20/20 hindsight, I was floored at how we kept up with Stanford considering how much more talent Stanford had. Stanford was young but had 6 players who earned 2, 3 or 4 All American honors and most were first teamers: Plummer, Hentz, Inky, Gray, Fitzmorris, and Lutz. The fact that we pushed Stanford to 5 with a much less talented roster (Gillis/Kriskova on pins, Bates at libero) is a true testament to that squad and Carlini specifically, even if it was heartbreaking at the time. I'm not sure any Badgers would've seen floor time at Stanford that year aside from Carlini, Haggerty and maybe one of the middles.

In my view they "kept it real" in a way that was respectful of the questioner and the overall situation, as was appropriate. I have asked a couple times, but have not gotten an answer (that I've seen, at least): does she have the option to "stay in the locker room"? One response said that the media requests which players come to the press conference, but I asked whether she allowed to "decline the request". For the record, I have ZERO problem with how she responded. You don't like my response? Don't "request" that I show up next time. Caffey doesn't owe any of us. Both sides have a point about how she reacted. But at the end of the day, that was a young, non-professional collegiate athlete who reacted to a question in a real way. During the press conference and prior to the question, she seemed to be just fine sitting there and dare I say even attentive. When her name was called and the question was being posed to her, her demeanor seemed normal and she was even nodding her head in acceptance of the question. I think it was crazy and sad to see her try to articulate herself and then seeing a few emotions flash across her face like sadness, confusion and ultimately irritation. To me, it was too much at that point to ask her to quickly go through the match mentally and extract certain things being that the emotions were high. Stivrins was stoic, Hames was crying and Caffey ended up being a little annoyed. They are humans and they are allowed to feel especially if the media expects to encounter them right after a tough loss in a national championship game no less.

I’m still bewildered by how good the Huskers ball control was. Incredible. Just imagine if this team had a Pavan to put balls away. Maybe Krause will become something like that one day. Scary. Pavan? Girl I would’ve taken Broekhius at times lol

In my view they "kept it real" in a way that was respectful of the questioner and the overall situation, as was appropriate. Wasn't going to keep this going, but your response is preposterous. She was asked a leading question that was to the effect of, "How great was it that ___________?!" And she chose not to validate the @$$%*!* premise of the "journalist's" question. Athletes don't have to act grateful for losing, or for being asked stupid questions. She DID keep it real. Most of the questions asked these days in those interviews are "I have something I'd like you to say (and I'm not really interested in your real opinions), so I'm going to say 'How fantastic is it that ____blah, blah blah___?!?!!" And then the athlete is supposed to say, "Why it was MEGA-fantastic!!"...and that's supposed to pass for "journalism." Yeah, Kayla kept it real. She wasn't going there, and she didn't need to validate the @$$%*!*. I respect that. The journalist (no quotation marks necessary) referred to her early big hits and then asked what were you seeing out there early and what was it like going against that block? I fail to see how that is in any way an inappropriate query. I also fail to see how some sort of "premise," inappropriate or otherwise, is baked into that question. Nor do I consider the question to be in any way "leading." There is nothing in the video at all where she is asked "how great was it ..." etc. I don't know what tape you're looking at. Again, it's not the end of the world, but to actually hold this episode up as praiseworthy "keeping it real" and praiseworthy "not going there" is simply preposterous.

If your takeaway from that match is to spend pages upset about a losing player's response in the post-match presser, might I suggest you need better priorities?

My takeaway from that match is that Nebraska's defense is awesome, their fight is tremendous, Wisconsin is very good but also lucky to have escaped, and that it was a very exciting match. I am not "upset" about that response / non-response; my point was merely that if you don't want to provide a substantive response to a reasonable, non-provocative, run-of-the-mill question then you shouldn't attend a press conference as a team representative. I was very impressed by how the other Nebraska representatives handled themselves in a painful situation. Over and out.

GIVE HER A BREAK AND STOP KICKING WHILE SHE IS DOWN. Have you never had a bad day? Would you appreciate having it recycled by others? Celebrate the winners. Acknowledge the good in the losers. Gracious in winning, losing and watching.

in the off-season, someone on VT needs to watch the match, convert it to side out scoring, and tell the score and who one and how long it would have taken. Looking at the play by play, I have it at WI up 2 sets to 1: 9-15, 15-9, 15-12 and 3-5 in the 4th.

This board can really be obsessed with policing Black women.

Back to back victories for coaches from Muncie! Dr Shondell’s coaching tree is broad and deep. Mick Haley spent four years in Muncie on his bench, but he learned an incredible amount and was successful coaching at every level after that… including junior college men’s and women’s volleyball, where he is also in a hall of fame. What he wrote about what he gained from NOT transferring was one of the most eloquent arguments I have ever seen. I brought it up with Coach Dunning at a fan event and he also praised Mick’s piece and Dr. Shondell’s role as a developer of volleyball play and coaching while the head coach at Ball State.

Can you imagine if it were a Texas player!?? At minimum there would be a new thread created calling her out and a minimum 50 pages of how horrible the coaching and culture must be to allow such a thing….Just imagine…

This board can really be obsessed with policing Black women. That is a cheap shot and I defended her. Don't pull the race card just because you don't agree.
