"Move heaven and earth"- a very gross exaggeration. "Give you a head coach title"- inaccurate. "be all onboard with you leaving in a year"- so you know what Cook thinks or are you guessing? Statement about desire for stability from the facts that you have stated is a big reach by you. Those facts tell me that he really wanted him, (and that was negotiated). "how hard it is to hire a top-level coach, amount of time and energy to develop staff continuity, train assistants how its done at Nebraska"- didn't Cook save a lot of work by rehiring Tyler who he knew was already qualified? In another post you stated that it is common knowledge that Cook asks for 3 years. Since you were not at the negotiations, and it was not written into the contract, common knowledge is something you want to believe, but has no concrete basis in this specific instance. What did I miss? No interest in a pissing match with you, but I’ll respond to your points. Going to your admin and asking for what is a totally unprecedented salary, allowing them to leave to complete a job, that requires hiring you to move your volunteer into a part time assistant, giving them an advanced title is going way above and beyond to get someone hired. Thus “heaven and earth”. He did in fact give him an associate head coach title so I dont know what you’re talking about. It would be more than common knowledge that Nebraska assistants are asked for a three year commitment. How concrete you want to view that is of course your choice. I wish him luck, and am sure Nebraska will make a great hire. I also have no interest. We usually see the same world, but the "moving heaven and earth" is a conversation with the AD about salary and the rest of it is some paperwork. Tyler was the one with two roles and the travel and work associated with that. Associate head coach does not mean head coach to anyone except you. When someone is hired for a state school paid wage of $175000 there is an extensive contract. Every lawyer will have both parties read the contract and make sure that everything important to you is covered. Example- DBK's new contract with Louisville. Either there was no 3 year commitment clause or it was voidable by Cook. The contract is concrete. That is not my choice.

I'm going to need to hear from Cook's mouth that he's upset about Tyler leaving for a HC gig. He's all about grooming his assistants to run their own programs. Tyler's timeline has been unusual but to claim Cook has any kind of feeling about it without any proof is not it.

Wasn't Tamas at UNL for 2 years? Four years. 2014-2017This is incorrect. I just looked at his wikipedia page and it's pretty messed up.

Wasn't Tamas at UNL for 2 years? That is correct. I seem to remember at the time that Cook said he normally asks for a three year commitment but the opportunity for Tamas to get a B1G job was too good for him to pass up, and Cook was fully supportive of Tamas taking it.

Doh! You're right. That's what I get for trusting Wikipedia. Whoever wrote his page has some fat fingers.

So is Kelly Hunter looking to stay in coaching? I know Cook has said he likes ex-players to go elsewhere for a time before looking at bringing them back to NE as an assistant.

My concern for next year (without knowing what will happen with transfers etc.) is offensive production and blocking from the middles.
