I'm constantly reminding myself to be patient this season. I still have full trust in Cook and the players to peak at the right time. The Maryland game was pretty hard to watch. Knowing how good we can be and not seeing it come close can be frustrating. Very thankful for a relatively easy front half B1G schedule - keeps us in the hunt for a top 4 seed and gives time for injuries to heal!

While I don’t think Orr has been great, I don’t think she has been terrible. If you look at her stats, they are better than the other setter options and she has played eight less sets than Evans…double contacts are an issue, but I think she has more upside than down….I would love to see Hames run the show but if Cook wasn’t willing against Stanford to give it a shot I don’t know what will push him to, especially if she can’t get back to absolutely being 100%. With consistent setting I feel like Nebraska could be darn near unbeatable. Lauenstein playing 6 rotations would be okay with me too!

I personally don’t see Orr leaving. Or Batenhorst. But especially not Krause….I would like to see Orr run the 5-1 consistently and be given the chance to prove herself. I’m not convinced Cook wants to rely on Hames knowing her time is up. If she isn’t proving herself in a 6-2, not sure how she gets the keys to the car exclusively. He clearly didn’t want to have Hames in a 5-1 but with a great roster and the FF in Omaha, that could happen. I’m 100% whatever they do will be about winning and not about potential player transfers. You have to think about winning now and can't even think about transfers. We thought Akana/Caffey were happy etc and they left. People can be happy and still leave.

The dynamics on the sideline are not ideal. Jaylen used to be near the court and in constant communication. Now he appears silent on the end. Lots of weird dynamics in play. Cook constantly irritated and frustrated. I think things would be so much smoother with Hames' leadership on the court. I hope she is back soon. Do you feel like there is more frustration this year than last or about the same? Seems very parallel and they were one game away from a national championship. I also think Nebraska wins ugly but they can make good teams look bad pretty easily. They are still a favorite to make the final 4.

Cook still toyed with the lineup through the Purdue game. It was tough to see how they would advance all the way to the last weekend, but the fact that they did has tended to remove the struggles/frustrations of the rest of the season prior (which, of course, is totally fair - having a runner-up trophy means the team did something very right!). I think we all expected a significant uptick in offense, clarity of personnel on the court, etc. Injuries, performance, and off-court happenings (transfers, for one) have made me realize this year is quite similar to last.

Is this the first year y’all have been paying attention to cook? His sideline demeanor is not new.

To be fair to Orr she is doing well No, she isn't. I don't wanna hate on anybody but Orr has has some truly terrible performances this season. Extremely inconsistent location, sets going past the pin or dying way inside, double palooza, spotty defense (though I actually think her backcourt defense is improving), avoiding the middle etc. ... and because she doubles every time she tried to set the middle, she pretty much gave up even trying by the end of the last match. So when Orr is in, they pretty much give up any threat of a middle attack.

Sounds like he has perhaps lost some respect from the players. No

Is this the first year y’all have been paying attention to cook? His sideline demeanor is not new. Exactly. I watch him a lot, especially after points. I get a kick out of him. He has mellowed a bit but is a perfectionist. He wears his emotions on his sleeve. Whether the girls lost some respect for Jaylen or even Kelly, is adult behavior gone awry. It happens, unfortunately. I guess love or perceived love can show to not be so. Better now, than after marriage and maybe a few kids. Even than it happens quite regularly, with both sexes seeing who can find the right one for them.

Out of curiosity about this I just went and rewatched the Maryland match and Reyes is at the same spot he’s been for years, at the 10 foot line in front of the scorers table the entire match, other than a few rallies where he roamed the sideline. So I have no idea what “appears silent on the end” is supposed to mean.

Even if the rumor turns out to be true, we still lack enough facts to draw anything other than fabrications. I understand that those supporting the three hundred programs that have never earned a championship will, at times, be jealous and take pot shots at PSU, Stanford, Nebraska, Texas, Wisconsin, Kentucky and others. I also know that fans of strong programs that are down now may also take a shots at times. But, IMO, the strong cultures of these programs are bigger than any coach, player, or complaint. I know VT exists so fans can vent and speculate. I fully support this. VT may be the only place some people have to vent and let off steam. I'm just hoping any enthusiasm to "take someone down a notch" doesn't get out of hand and hurt players or coaches needlessly.

I guess we’ve learned nothing from everyone believing the wildly inaccurate Capri Davis rumors from a few years ago, but here we are. Some things will never change.

Hildebrand is an exceptional coach and particularly good in those areas, but Nebraska has always been as good as anyone in that area.
