That was just for the spring semester not this semester too? isnt nebraska down one scholarship bc of caffey leaving? I know that if they gave caffey a scholarship they were going to have to forfeit one the following year, but does that mean that they did technically have a scholarship that cook didn't want the penalty for in giving it to caffey? or am I just totally wrong lol ik nebraska fans know a lot of the scholarships

They could’ve kept her on with the late departure of Caffey but I hadn’t heard anything about that

I thought the deal on Caffey was if they gave her a scholarship this year it would have to count for 2 this year, or one this year and next year. Something to do that she had a masters degree from NU. They thought she had it covered with NIL, but in the end I guess she didn't. I don't think they were ever planning for her to be on scholarship once they found out it was going to cost them 2 to do it. I don't know for sure though, just what I read.

I would assume cook gave it to someone for the semester, literally 0 reason not to. if I wasnt on scholarship on a team, knowing we had an open one not being used id be so annoyed lmao

Anni could very well be on scholarship rn but there was no official announcement and the one she was given in the spring only covered that semester

They thought she had it covered via NIL, but she didn't. She went to Texas instead of having to pay her own way.

Since she decided not to last minute, the 12th scholarship was left unused unless Cook decided to extend Anni’s

That's a vague recollection from a months-old VT post, so take that with a grain of salt.

It's my understanding that if a scholarship is awarded in the Fall, it is for the entire academic year. So, if Evans had been given a 'ship for the Fall, she couldn't be taken off 'ship to make room for the early 2023 enrollees in the Spring. For seniors or outgoing transfer who leave in December after the season is over, those 'ships can be awarded for Spring only.

That's my understanding too, though it's based solely on things I've read here on VT--not on any research into the rules. In my defense, it seems what I've read has been from usually reliable sources.

If Cook wanted Caffey she would be here. I was told that Cook believed that the Big Ten Championship and the NCAA Championship went thru Wisconsin and that he wasn't sure Nebraska could beat them with a 6'0 MB. Last year 6'0 Caffey was looking across the net and seeing 6'8 and 6'9. Caffey was giving up 8'' and 9'' to them and that is just too much to overcome. That would be like Nebraska's 6'4 MBs looking across the net and seeing MBs that stand 5'7 and 5'8. At times it seemed like Caffey was the only one you could count on for a kill but the quick set over the middle is pretty much the extent of her game. I don't know why he didn't try Schwarzenbach against Wisconsin.
