Keeping your word is important I wouldn’t give him a third opportunity, that’s for sure. Good luck to him. You act like he had not talked this over with Cook and he just saw shiny object and grabbed it without considering the consequences. Kristen and the kids drove to Cbus for the Natty. If Cook felt disloyalty, he could have had Tyler drive home and told him not to attend the "Welcome Home" at the Womens Bball game on Sunday. Tyler flew home and attended the event. It must have been a great offer and Tyler must miss coaching high level Beach. When the Husker job opens, if Tyler applies, he will be committed to the long term.

I don't see how anyone can read the Husker press release with Tyler's and Cook's quotes and think there's anything but great respect for each other. There's no chance Cook is upset about this. He knows this is a necessary next step for Tyler's career, especially if he's going to have a shot at replacing Cook in a few years.
If Tyler applies he'll be a strong candidate for the job, especially after running LBSU for a few years. We don't even know if he'd want the job, though. A lot can happen in several years.

My bigger concern has been someone bringing a big offer to Jalen. If the Huskers are in the Final Four next year, some AD is going to come after him for a head coaching job. Having Tyler's salary to work with gives Cook some extra firepower.

Sure, I’ll move heaven and earth (twice) to get you here, pay you a head coach salary, give you a head coach title, then Be all onboard with you leaving in a year to become a better head coach to be a candidate here? Does that make sense to you? Wouldnt the incredibly high salary and title, willingness to allow him be gone and fulfill Olympic obligations suggest he wanted some stability? Do you have any idea how hard it is to hire a top level coach, the amount of time and energy to develop staff continuity, train assistants how we it’s done at Nebraska?

I think we can insinuate a lot of responses to these situations. Without hardened fast evidence of burnt bridges, I'm going to take their words at face value. Everything else, sans evidence, is speculation, isn't it?

He moves heaven and earth(which is a lot of work) the first time and Huskers win the title. He then moves heaven and earth(which is a lot of work) a second time and the Huskers are in the Finals. What was he thinking? Does that make sense to you?

The hire isn’t being questioned by anyone and that makes perfect sense to me.

If your Jalen and they hire another first assistant over you, then I think you run the risk of losing him. Tyler’s contribution is of course significant, but is it as significant as the recruiting Jalen is doing? Cool really likes the splash hire and moving jalen and Hunter up isn’t a splash. I’d be more than happy to see that happen though.

He may be happy in his role for a while longer before taking the reins of his own team. Heck, he could get hired away tomorrow.

Does anyone have an ear to the ground as to what Nicklin, Callie, and Kayla are doing with their Covid year?

You may want to explore the concepts of player development and scoreboard. If you think it was too much work for Coach Cook, apparently, he decided that it wasn't (and it is his job).

I’d be more than happy to see that happen though. I think Jaylen should be in a good spot right now. He has recruited extremely well for Nebraska. He is a class act, and there will be quite a few dominoes to fall in the next 1-2 years in the coaching ranks that will probably serve him well. Especially if he sits back for a year or possibly two. He has quite a bit invested in the upcoming classes and knows everyone out on the recruiting trail. If he were to move someplace, he is the type of personality that would instantly generate the type of interest that could turn around a program rather quickly. He is younger and can relate to the "younger gen", has a ton of energy, and knows the game extremely well.
