Ticket office said that it’s very likely that I’ll be able to remain in Bronze, but in different seats in that section. They said that trying to upgrade to SIlver would lose any priority access we currently have, as we’d be put in with the general requests and new season ticket requests. The feeling I got was that upgrading to SIlver wasn’t a good idea. Nothing was explicitly said to say that was a bad idea, but I got the feeling from the customer service rep that he wasn’t feeling good about recommending that upgrade.
They did say that donor rank & points would factor in when looking at the various levels, so that might have had something to do with being told we’d be able to stay in Bronze.

(I haven't received the expected email yet, but...) At the top of my priority request form, it says (in part) "Please note that should you request season tickets at the GOLD price level and your season ticket request is able to be filled at the GOLD price level, you will not have the same section, row and seat numbers as held for the 2021 season. Seats will be assigned based on your rank as of July 1 within your priority request group." I gotta pay a $250 "donation", and I'm not even guaranteed to get my same seat?!? SMH... Your seat doesn’t exist anymore. Mine doesn’t either. If I were you, I’d call to find out what happens to the donation if you’re not able to get a seat in Gold. 50% of those who were in Gold last year are definitely going to get bumped out of Gold, and I didn’t see a plan stated for what happens if you do get bumped out. That said, my conversation about priority access indicated that those of us who have a priority request form will have priority over a bunch of high roller/corporate types who haven’t been season ticket holders before (or didn’t have season tickets in Gold before 2022).

I understand what you're saying, but generally speaking, I don't think that is true; there will be a 7th row in section E, and there will be a seat #14. And it will almost certainly be quite near where the previous E-7-14 was. If I'm not getting section E more-or-less where I was, what is the $250 for? If I'm just going to be 'randomly' assigned a different side-court seat somewhere, why not do it in "silver" and save the $250. (On the other hand, I'm not crazy about the idea of bumping some poor person out of their silver seat.) Thinking out loud, as much as anything here... You suggestion about asking what happens to the $250 if I don't get "gold" is an excellent one. Thanks.

Since I was having an issue with submitting the form, I had to call in once again. I did ask about the donation for Gold, and they said that they (the ticket office) didn’t have that information about donations. They suggested calling the Athletic Development Office instead for that answer.
In a similar vein, I was able to get my priority request for Bronze done over the phone, and they were also able to submit a new ticket request for a Bronze section seat, with the caveat that the seat MUST be next to or very close to the 2 seats from my priority request. As comfortable as my kids are in the Field House, I’m not sitting an elementary school aged kid in a section across the stadium from where I’m sitting, nor would I take that single seat in D while I’ve got 6 years old twins sitting together in H.
It’s a musical chairs game, where 50% of people currently in Gold are going to get bumped out somehow. Some might elect to move down to Silver or Bronze, but there will likely be some who want Gold and won’t get it. Either way, there’s virtually NO risk of someone who was not previously a donor and/or a VB season ticket holder coming in and bumping anyone out who wants to stay in Gold.

Looks like Bingo season may be more about scoring season ticket seat assignments than verbals from prospective student/athletes!
I definitely feel all your anxiety people, especially those with kids and those in Gold.

Anyone who calls in should tell the CSR you speak with that they really need to set up Badger Select for VB for 2023, like they have for other major sports. Renewing your existing seats happens first, then making upgrades & selecting parking happens at a later date would make all of this a lot easier & transparent.

I called and spoke to a nice gentleman in the development office. Here's what I learned:
For those wanting to stay in Gold or move to Gold, the recommended per seat contribution will be charged when they allocate tickets in July. I asked if we needed to make a donation today in order to get there and he said no.
The player pass sections are moving to Bronze D & H - so essentially they'll be flanking the Gold section. That means displacement of additional season ticket holders who sit in those areas.
To assign seats, first they'll go through and give displaced patrons dibs to either stay in their current section/tier, or move to a new section/tier. They'll prioritize those requests by giving level & priority points within that level. Then they'll process renewals who were bumped because of displaced patrons, again prioritizing by giving level & priority points. Then they'll do all other renewals, and then new requests.
The guy also told me that he hadn't gotten many angry phone calls, which is good.

I just got off the phone with Marques, who is the main volleyball ticket guy. Among things he said that I recall: - something approaching 50% less overall capacity in the "gold" sections than previously existed - after all the requests come in and they have a better idea of things, there will be another round of communication - at least for gold - regarding preferences as to aisle vs middle of the section, etc. At that point they might try to get people back to where they had been in terms of row and seat, but don't count on it; assume you will not be getting anything close to your old location (assuming it even exists). - I asked if I sign up for gold this year, don't like "gold" and want to move to silver next year, will there still be a 'priority' process, etc, and he said no. Informally, because I have just the one ticket, finding space for me gets easier, but the section "priority" stuff is this year only.
----------- Adding, I also asked if I am not necessarily going to get generally the same seat location with my $250 "donation", but rather be assigned a seat in who-knows-what location, why would I spend an extra $250 to do that on the east side of the Field House (gold) and not the west side of the Field House (silver)? His answer amounted to 'well, comfy chairs'.
And he said that even with the 'bucket' seats, the gold sections will still be able to collapse such that no floor space is lost for practice. I'd like to see how they engineer that!

The ripple effect down the line from the seat changes is reminiscent of the extra covid year effect on the recruits . Hope it all works out for everyone local.

Almost half of the lower basketball bowl folds back to make room for the rink.

I'd like to see how they engineer that! A number of years ago when my son was playing club, we played a tourn at SIU Edwardsville in their basketball arena. All of the seats from court level up were individual seats. They were retracted so they had three courts for VB. Looking back at some of the pictures I took, it looks like the seatbacks folded forward and down to allow retraction.

Not only are the chairs not permanently in place, the risers aren't even permanently in place.
