Kentucky gave Louisville all it could handle in a 5-set loss (and each set was very close). Sweeping the Wildcats might just look a bit more impressive than it was at the time. Sweeping Kentucky on the road was always going to look impressive IMO.

Sweeping Kentucky on the road was always going to look impressive IMO. I thought maybe they weren’t the same Kentucky that they were from 2 years ago, especially after having to lost to Marquette earlier. I downplayed how good they were.

If you watched them against Creighton, you would have thought differently. They looked pretty damn good in that match against a team that really stretched the huskers just a few days later. They aren't as good as that NC squad, but they are pretty damn good.

Laura Abbinante inducted into the UW sports hall of fame.
Nice Youtube video of her interview with Matt Lepay.

Can we pump the brakes on the Gülce hype now?... Not a good night, but she was league FOY last week. I hope she becomes more consistently good, but the ceiling is high there.

Wow 10 kills team high for a 5 set match. Floridas block really put the clamps on the offense. But the setting definitely had an impact. I do not remember seeing effective setting to back row attack attempts. Maybe a bit too predictable?

In the 4th set, that UW won 25-13, Florida had more kills than Wisconsin did!

Putting some crazy ish out there more because this could be a thought for next year: CC has set some nice 2 balls when pressed to do so, and I believe I heard a broadcaster say she’s the 3rd option as setter in practice (or maybe the setter on the second team?). Could Sheff work some mid-season magic like he did with Demps last year and convert CC into either one of the 6-2 setters, the front row setter in the 5-2, or the primary setter in the 5-1?
When it comes to someone having to sit, it seems to be leaning toward MJ’s floor defense being the weak link so far (not saying she’s horrible, but relative to others). This crazy idea could put a tall blocking option up front, allows Devyn to slide in to the middle with Hart (who was OK enough to go 5), put the Smrek/Demps platoon back in place (5-2 or 5-1), and put in more DS options for better defense (5-1).
This probably isn’t the “simple solution” or even an actual solution, but… something needs to change, it seems, if it’s not a matter of the team meshing with the 6-2 system.
