I wonder if WSU won't pull through and be better than the Zona schools even with the loss of Pukus. That front will be stout with Timmer, Ryan and JEHLAROVA. I've never seen Ung play and I'm not sure what they have coming in or returning for libero/ds but I wouldn't rule them out, Greeny is too good of a coach to not do some damage.

How hard can it possibly be to recruit to Stanford? Pretty hard when you factor in the academic component. Stanford is not in the habit of compromising their admissions standards for athletes. Well, Stanford does make exceptions, just at a lower rate than most other schools.

Oregon gonna win the pac 👀 I would like to see who they get to replace Borup before making that claim. With that unknown, I wouldn’t make that claim.

But it may be easier for recruits to pass Admissions given that the SAT/ACT is no longer a requirement. That was the main obstacle in the past as it served as a reliable check against grade inflation. Not sure what Admissions is doing to mitigate the missing SAT/ACT scores though.

that confident about Hambly? the pressure's on now that he's leading a team of his own recruiting Well, I think Stanford is in the best position to win the conference, and, for a variety of reasons, Stanford has kind of underperformed the last two seasons, therefore, now rising to the level the program should have been all along will be seen as a "turnaround", thus my Mick Haley comment. Haley took a team that was preseason top 5 to a losing record in the same year, then the following year took the core of that team and tied for 1st in conference. He got COY for that, but, IMO, much of that was because he fiddled his way to a mediocre season and lowered the expectations for the program. Do I agree with the reasons, absolutely not, but it is what it is. i see your point, exceeding a lowered expectation. With the exception of this year’s usc, Stanford has consistently recruited the best talent among PAC-12 schools. From that perspective, anything short of a conference championship would fall in the doing less with more category, not exactly the definition of a best coach. I would agree that he was one of the better young coaches, but he never really broke thru in the BIG. He won the championship with Plummer and went to the final 4 with Poulter. What he can do with very good but not necessarily exceptional talent is what I look forward to finding out.

Just to clarify . Kipp, Baird and Miner are exceptional talents. well, that's a matter of where or how you draw the line. how many women's NCAA volleyball players around the country are at those 3's level? if you can name more than 10, they are no longer exceptions or exceptional. that's just my take though.

How hard can it possibly be to recruit to Stanford? It depends. They can get anyone who can clearly get in, but recruit selection can still be a problem. Their biggest problem has been the lack of a six-rotation hitter (who isn't a liability in the backrow).

The last two seasons the issue has been injuries and depth (off the court), and if you are looking at actual on court play, the lack of defense, both at the net and the backcourt, has been more problematic.

Not saying they aren't strong hitters. I should have said "in the backrow and serve-receive". Baird struggled. Kipp is 6'5" and can't be expected to fill that role. They got away with it with Plummer because her offense was so stellar. UW does have an elite six-rotation player, if they can keep her healthy!

^^ Mima is an incredible competitor. I loved watching her play in club just getting up and ripping balls. I always remember her giving Plummer healthy banter on the beach while serving her lol ….Wishing her the best in all future Endeavors.
