It seems like each year Robyn surprises by starting a freshman that you’d think might have needed some spot time to get acclimated to D-1 ball. I like the approach that anyone can work their way into the starting lineup in practice, and then gets the chance to sink or swim come game time. Based only on summer random comments in the media about attitude and athleticism, I think it might be Caylen this year. S: Lang Opp: Westerberg M1: Igiede M2: Evans OH1: Alexander OH2: Wagoner Lib: Ikenaga

I'll throw in my guess for the starting lineup:
Option 1: S: Lang Opp: Westerberg (DS Matias) M1: Igiede M2: Evans OH1: Alexander (DS Edmonds) OH2: Wagoner Lib: Ikenaga
Option 2: S: Lang Opp: Akana (DS Matias) M1: Igiede M2: Westerberg OH1: Alexander (DS Edmonds) OH2: Wagoner Lib: Ikenaga

Cowell is too experienced and mature to NOT start. She will start. Whether she plays the whole match/season remains to be seen but there is no way someone like Cowell does not start. Akana could beat her out but unless she improved her passing, I think Cowell will get the nod.
Bad passing means Igiede is taken out of the equation so passing should be priority #1. Both Wagoner and Cowell were primary passers last season.
According to Koavball, Riley and Chandler are looking good so at this time, those two are slated to be the starting OHs.
Alexander will get her shot but I doubt she has the ball control now to be a good all around D1 left side hitter.

I was too optimistic I guess, they took down the stream options for the non-home games... bummer

Honestly! I think Edmonds is going to get the start over Ikenaga at the libero position. That girl doesn’t let any ball fall to the ground. Akana seems inconsistent even though she has a heavy arm in practice. Her size also is a factor, especially when we go up against better opponents. Cowell seems to have maturity on her side. The only definite would be Igiede! I think the starting line up would be,
S: Lang OPP: Annika ( due to being a Lefty w/ size ) MH1: Igiede MH2: Evans/ Westerberg OH1: Cowell OH2: Alexander L: Edmonds
This is how I see it. I do feel Riley will probably start on the OH2 because she has an all around game, but always seems to fizzle in and out in tough competition. OH’s should have an aggressive aura about them. Bail out the team in tough situations. Riley always seems steady but timid. Cowell and Alexander seem to possess that aggressive swing. Alexander might not start probably due to passing, being a freshmen and inexperience. I also want Westerberg to break the lineup because I know she has something to prove. All in all, I know I’ll be wrong in certain positions, but if working out and conditioning in the off season says anything, this is what I see.

I can see her at least playing backrow, potentially being yanked and replaced by Alexander or Akana if she isn't producing offensively.

I just can’t envision a scenario where if you want the offense centered around your middles and need your best passers on the floor, Wagoner and Ikenaga aren’t there.
Amber is one of the best blockers in the country and I know Robyn is going to put a lot of emphasis on that for who she wants as the other middle. So we need a defensive DS and a serve receive Libero
I don’t know what the Serve Receive numbers are but just watching both players film, i think Tayli has the edge over Talia.

I've gotta say, I'm feeling really good about the energy and chemistry from this team early on! I couldn’t agree more. It looks and feels different somehow. Their connection and energy looks firing and ready for the season. I also like how they’ve been going out together as a team like the canoe day and restaurant outing. Side note: ever since the IG page has been posting more, their page has been gaining more exposure and followers. A week ago they were at 13K followers and now they’re almost at 17K!
