that's the thing - she is playing a lot ... as much as possible for a DS. one doesn't amass 24 digs in the championship final by "not playing much" ... but yes - is she content with that secondary role or does she think she could be the 'bro somewhere else? who knows ... it depends too on whether nebraska continues to utilize a system that relies heavily on so many DS's (knuckles being the other one, with at least 1 year of eligibility left). Thinking Akana could be a starting Libero on a lot of teams, especially Top Level teams. Yes, Akana could be Libero at any top team. I think she is on the best team she will be on now. Unless, she really wanted to come back home for whatever reason I don't think she would leave the Huskers especially with the success they had this year. |

IMO= If you get put into match and can't produce time after time, maybe it's a good idea for her to move on.Her defense is pretty good, but her offense not so . I actually thought she was starting to produce when Westerberg replaced her permanently. She had two solid hitting games in a row. Imho she can get a P5/Top 25 school. They are going to look at her tape and see her potential. I agree - when she was starting, I think she was hitting better than Westerberg. I always wonder why Robyn banished her to the bench mid season. I guess the writing was in the wall for her, but I was hoping she’d be a starting OH next year.. |

The coaches worked so hard to get this “polish hammer” that was in the talks the past few years only for it to be for just a season. I hope it has nothing to do with the coaches.

I almost feel like Leo told the coaches she was planning on transferring early in the season and that’s why Robyn didn’t play her.. She has potential, wish her the best.. if you can’t be happy playing volleyball here then you don’t belong here.. That would make sense. I wonder what made her unhappy if she was. I hope the team could do more bonding activities this spring, maybe that’ll help somehow |

And this is why I didn’t post what I knew. Because Hawaii fans love to go on tangents and make up absurd rumors or notions, that have no basis in fact.
It’s insane. She’s transferring. Does it suck? Absolutely. But let’s not speculate.

During the season I was hoping that Martyna would replace RW at the OH2 position and use RW as a ds. It’s useless saying “I called it” about Leoniak. Unless you felt from the beginning she was not the type to want to fight for a position and work in the off season. That being said, I find it interesting that many here are saying she will land at a P5, she was not an unknown by US coaches, but she was mostly only recruited by mid majors. I’m pretty sure Hawaii was the best program that recruited her.
Any way you slice it, if she’s willing to end it this early, I wish her the best wherever she lands. Now the topic of trying to pull an impact Outside Hitter is more of a possibility and there is less of a logjam now at Opposite…kinda
K. Akana ain’t coming to Hawaii lol unless the push to make those freshman now sophomore pins into 6 rotation players ends up being what pushes her out. Knuckles could leave if she wanted and anyone would snap her or Akana right up but doubt Akana leaves, even with that.
I think the entire universe is courting Skyler Fields and I’m not really sure what P5 has the opening for a 6 rotation player which is what she’s looking to become, so I think Robyn holds the scholarship open for someone TRULY impactful, not hopefully impactful and I don’t really think there are that many proven arms in the portal as of right now that would bring UH back to real post season contention.
UH has the pieces to Dark Horse their way up there like the ACC teams, it’s just a matter of whether or not Robyn can land that “impact OH transfer” everyone has been thirsting over..
And damn y’all I was so hopeful the 2021 thread would get to 300 pages lol we were so close 😭

I just want to see Demirtas, next season. Keep reading comments from people who have seen her swing during pre-match warmup, that she has a "cannon" of an arm swing. She could be that missing element.
