This is the next area of attention. I'm not sure where our scholarship numbers stand, but there is plenty of talent still available in the portal to beef up that back row. It’s my understanding that the Rosens don’t ever give DSes scholarships (like, as a rule) and only the Libero gets one. Dumb rule

Michigan has really expanded their recruiting range. They are now recruiting kids from the Moon. Mars players are probably still available. I know this was unintentional but I’m from the area and there’s a town called Mars less than 50 minutes from Moon Township!

Some interesting background on the visiting Brondby Volleyball Klub from Denmark. LMU alum Tess Reid provides a really nice overview on their GoFundMe page about what this trip means to their team. American coaches Dan and Coley Pawlikowski have experience at Wisconsin and Northern Illinois and Coley is still listed on the team's roster as a 40 year old libero! Looking forward to welcoming this team and its international players to Ann Arbor.

It was a fun night of early spring volleyball as Michigan hosted Brondby Volleyball Klub, playing their third match in four days after a long trip from Denmark. Michigan won three of the four sets and its always nice to see different lineup combinations and bench players get a crack in competition. News and observations: - I was thrilled to see Haley Hallgren listed on the spring lineup and in the gym. She wasn't dressed but she was participating with the team on the sidelines. It looks like she might be back this fall on a medical exemption after her shocking lung cancer revelation and recent surgery. She's been an inspiration to everyone around the program. - There haven't been any official announcements yet by the program, but the spring lineup sheet welcomes a new coach and DOVO to the 2022 bench. Wes Sjoersdsma joins as the new volunteer assistant coach, most recently with Coastal Carolina. And Ashlie Reasor returns to the program as the new Director of Volleyball Operations. Ashlie was Michigan's volunteer assistant in the 2020 COVID season and spent 2021 as an Assistant Coach at Eastern Michigan under Darcy Dorton. - Fresh off of Spring Break, Michigan looked extremely rusty in Set 1. They scored almost exclusively from the left side only and floor defense was non existent in a 21-25 set loss. Kendall Murray led with 7K, filling in nicely at OH2. - Jess Mruzik started to assert herself in Set 2 and Scottee Johnson started finding her middles in a 25-21 win. - Set 3 was the Money May Pertofsky show, dominating from the service line, recording 4 kills and some good block touches in a 25-20 set win as Brondby started running out of gas. - Brondby rallied in Set 4 for a comeback as Mark Rosen brought in a few bench players to flesh out the back row; finally finishing it off 25-23. Jacque Boney looked really good in this set, I'm excited to see her continued development. - Positives: Mruzik's passing looks markedly improved; this could be a huge boost to Blue's chances in the fall. Jacque Boney looks like she could develop into a top tier B1G middle. And of course, Money May from the service line. - Concerns: the smalls struggled; Grant was not on form. Humphrey and Beals had their moments, but the team needs help in the back row. Murray playing 6-rotations might not be an option. This might be my only chance to catch the team this spring, so hoping others can fill in the blanks. Go Blue!

I would think Jacobs starts over Murray, and she will help shore up passing too.

Any idea if Mira Chopra is challenging for playing time? I enjoyed watching her play as an incoming recruit.

Any idea if Mira Chopra is challenging for playing time? I enjoyed watching her play as an incoming recruit. If yesterday was any indication, it doesn't look like it. She was one of only two players not to see the floor. I think she's shown promise in the few times we've seen her and there is opportunity at MB this spring at least. Jess Robinson hasn't exactly been lighting it up and with Nyambio coming in this fall, there should be healthy competition in the gym.
