Nebraska certainly isn't a school I'd use as proof for some sort of larger standard. They have too many circumstances that allow these kinds of things to happen. Meyer (MB) isn't taking a scholarship - she's a top 20 player for her class, most schools don't get elite recruits for free. Next year they are getting Mendelson, a top 5 recruit, who also isn't taking a scholarship. Again, most schools don't get elite recruits for free. Next year Hames is rumored to be walking on....most teams don't get 4-year starter All American setters to pay their way for a 5th year. Nebraska can have 3 DS's on full scholarship because they have other essential positions covered without burning a scholarship. (just a side note) Meyer did have a scholarship for when she was on the team. She's not with the VB team anymore, as she's pursuing track. weren't you the one that said that Meyer was on an academic scholarship? |

Nebraska didn't have to burn scholarships for middle depth last year (with Gray and covid seniors) and they won't next year (with Mendelson)...add in Hames as a possible walk-on and it's even more gravy. It's a luxury pretty unique to the Huskers. |

My spy in the gym tells me that both teams were a little shorthanded; Northwestern playing without TTA and Michigan still missing Johnson who was in the gym but not dressed. Boney and Robinson were dominant, Mruzik was back in action and Paige Jones had a guest starring role in Set 2. Go Blue!

Michigan's spring match against Bowling Green this past Saturday in Grand Rapids is up on YouTube. Michigan swept the match -22;-19;-16. It looks like just about everyone had a chance to play with Dowd setting the first, Johnson the second and a 6-2 being run in the third. Great to see Haley Hallgren return to the court. Michigan finishes its spring season this Saturday at Pitt. Go Blue! |

A middle playing Outside and our other incoming transfer still being at Iowa. Meet us during the regular season with normal starters and then you can talk. You should be concerned about your setting coach though.. getting a little too close to the setter, especially when she bent down to wipe up the floor and he ran up behind her. For what reason? Disgusting. |
