Been a few weeks, but with Marquette under the belt, (fist pump!). Thought it was time for Who Ya Rootin for again. I probably won't post the next one until after Halloween, though I have been keeping my spreadsheet updated by week. Just seemed really early to post it prior to Marquette, and now I'm getting the same vibe about 10/18 being a bit early. Still, RPI Futures are out and bracketologists are doing their thing. So, here's the teams/games/days I'm tracking this week to hopefully help with Creighton's RPI (and potential seed). This week (yesterday), Creighton was 13 and 12 to 16 were teams Creighton has played. The last few weeks have been good for Creighton from a non-conference strength perspective. Don't want to interrupt that trend, so I'll be pulling for the teams around them as well (at least for now). Who Ya Rootin For SpreadsheetView AttachmentView Attachment3-3 tonight

Who Ya Rootin For SpreadsheetView AttachmentView Attachment3-3 tonight I got 4-2 for desired vs actual results. Wanted Florida to lose since they were not a non-conference foe and they did. That Iowa State result though was big. CU's non-conference foes were 3-0 last night. Barring a meltdown, ISU is likely a top 50 team. CU is "only" 2-3 vs top 25 per figstats, but they are 5-3 vs the top 50 now. Heck, CU's worst non-conference foe (Wyoming) might get above 200. The next worst is Omaha!(82) who has a big weekend starting tonight. Either way, it's time to start being hopeful, but not hyped for another hosting spot. Just can't really count on them winning every road game vs teams not named Marquette given what happened last year on that trip to the east coast.

A couple of non-conference opponents are just outside the Top 25 as of this morning. Florida State and Iowa State getting there would be a big boost to Creighton's RPI and hosting chances. ncaastats.figstats.net/teamsheet.phtml/Creighton (then click on Opponents tab).

Don't want to interrupt that trend, so I'll be pulling for the teams around them as well (at least for now). Who Ya Rootin For SpreadsheetHas been updated. Creighton has two opponents just outside and another just inside the top 25 for those all important bonus points. Florida State keeps teasing getting into the Top 25 RPI and then loses to someone. They have a key match against Ga Tech this weekend who are close to Creighton in the RPI. So a Florida State win there would probably not vault them into the top 25 this week, but would keep them close AND keep Ga Tech at bay. Iowa State is at 27 this week and has two matches against Chicago State and Kansas State (another CU non-con foe). I don't know that winning both gets them in the top 25, but winning both keeps them in the running for it later. (Winning both COMBINED with some Ls around them may get ISU into the top 25.) USC needs to stop the struggle bus (3 losses in a row) this weekend against Arizona St and Arizona, or Creighton could lose the bonus from USC. Attachments:

No idea what this means but go KBB

^^ It means that KBB has the respect of her peers. And new power to shape the trajectory of the sport as it continues to gain attendance and broadcast momentum.
Creighton continues to struggle with first-ball kills and closing out sets with a big lead. But the Jays are getting better and better at transition, blocking and net touches, and the middle attack, to go with strong floor defense, serving, and back row attack. Kianna Schmitt is emerging as a go-to player on high-leverage points, and Jazz Schmidt has shown the ability to bring a spark off the bench.
St. John's threatened Creighton but was called "fake tough" by a former player on a local podcast. The Red Storm play you tough for two sets but if you win the first two, they fold. This is a perception of St. John's that goes back to previous seasons.
DePaul is the only BE team to test both Creighton and Marquette, yet barring a late surge will not make the BE tournament. They continue to struggle in close matches against the rest of the conference.
Seton Hall is having a Providence-like season, winning against weak competition outside of the BE, then being unable to challenge the top half of the conference. An RPI gift to the rest of the conference.
Tiers within the conference have emerged: Tier One- Creighton & Marquette, Tier Two- UConn, Xavier, St. John's, Butler, DePaul, Tier Three- Seton Hall, Providence, Villanova, Georgetown.

Wyoming getting to 200 RPI doesn't matter, but Creighton has a rooting interest in most of its non-conference opponents. Omaha (currently 81), Kansas State (71) and Wichita State (76) are on the edge of the T75 threshold, Northern Iowa (56) has a chance at T50, and ideally Southern Cal (21), Florida State (31), and Iowa State (33) can get to T25. Within the BE, St. John's is at 77 and the Jays would like to see them win, as well.

Hmm, Providence beat 8-4 Xavier and Seton Hall has wins over UConn and DePaul (who you have second tier at 3-9). Creighton struggling against UConn, StJohns, DePaul doesn’t bode well for an NCAA run.
