San Diego just updated their 2022 roster and I think what they need is a DS/libero. It’s possible to get another outside who can pass and play defense. Maybe they can get some transfers esp with Blossom as a setter.

The libero from Lexington KY Olivia Bennett is a 2nd team AVCA All-American and looks like she has lots of other awards, she was on JVA all national team the last couple years, was first team KY all state this year, and lots of other local and regional awards. USD is getting a baller, she is very fast and has been a defensive standout since she was young. Pretty sure she chose USD over several other big schools. I've been around KY high school for years and she's the real deal - just sad she didn't stay local because she had the opportunity. Check out her youtube if you want to see her play.

Breana Edwards to USD per her Instagram. I loved watching her play at IU. Can play six rotations. Great get for the Toreros!

Would have to be either absurdly terminal or outstanding 6 rotation to pique my interest and be okay with a grad transfer bumping out one of our favorites, though I have to admit I’m not convinced USD has a great 3rd option at this point. I have been hopeful about the incoming class. My dream would be for the OH who is on the shorter side (6’0” being short!) to have ridiculous hops and a lethal swing - those are my favorite players to watch. Your interest isn’t the one that matters. Told ya

I hear a grad transfer OH might be in the mix. congrats Bre. Not sure why it took so long. It was between USD and Oregon from what I heard (although had other good schools with $$ early in the mix)...but Oregon had zero scholarship. She would have paid "in state", which is why I was hopeful, especially as time went by. But it ended up still hard to overcome. :-(

Defence and the second middle will be the big question mark for this team next year. The lack of a consistent starting setter will be solved by Blossom's transfer - it will be fun to see her go up against Bower of BYU. The roster lists Benbow as the only DS coming back to USD next season With Tastad no longer listed on the roster and Jaworowski only playing as a serving specialist last year, the pressure will be on the incoming freshman Bennett to perform. Blackwell did well last year and will likely have the starting middle spot sewn up, but the second middle spot flip flopped between various players last year. Goddard and Stoner are listed on the roster for next season so I think we will see them fighting it out for that spot. Right now I'd lean towards Stoner for that second middle spot, I was impressed with her performance as a freshman in some games last year.

Confident in Alfee's ability to get them stable as a passing unit (maybe not great, but good enough). Blossom like others have already mentioned is the game changer for them. Should be fun to see, I imagine they'll be the preseason favorite over BYU, see if they can hold off BYU in their last season of WCC play.
