I don't think Allen would displace Benbow at Libero. She would provide help with defense which USD needs. USD also released their preseason tourney schedule: among others: Pitt, Louisville, Ohio State, Hawaii, Utah, UCLA... Wow! Great work by the coaching staff to schedule this level of opponent! Hopefully the bottom half the WCC can get some non con wins to lift the conference RPI (one can dream) |

Hahah that’s awkward. U already know BYU is gonna target her in serve receive 😂😂😂😂 More awkward for BYU. Allen was their best passer last season. Now their best returning small passed a 1.98. And Allen will not be the target if Katie Lukes is passing. That’s what I’m saying haha awkward for BYU??? I still think they would target her or at least try especially at the SFH literally for the psychological aspect of passing and being targeted by your former team. |

As a casual WCC fan, San Diego seems to be putting together a great team for next year. BYU will do what they always do. Who has the top incoming recruiting class, or classes, for the upcoming 2022 season in the WCC and will those classes make a meaningful difference?

Who cares why Madi Allen is transferring to USD? As long as she is coming...She is going to automatically be a big help for USD, defensively and at the service line. Just like she did at BYU. Give the boyfriend a season pass if needed.

I actually don't think Allen leaving will hurt BYU that much. The things she's good at (floor defense, serving) are things that BYU is collectively good at. And the area where BYU struggles the most--passing--is something that she isn't particularly good at. If the new players can't pass, then Allen being on the team wouldn't suddenly make them good at passing. Anyway, she can probably help San Diego as a DS (I agree with others that she's unlikely to displace Benbow). Or if nothing else, she can be a good serve specialist. As for BYU, maybe it's a blessing in disguise if it means that they can find someone who actually is a good passer to play libero. I'm not optimistic about this fall, but maybe in 2023. |
