It'll come down to setting for UCSB. Should be fun to watch. UCSB is deep at setter. They beat UCLA a couple weeks ago without a starting setter (Ma'a) in the lineup. OH2 is the issue for UCSB but Ohwobete should be one of the favorites for BW POY. Wait what? Isn't Sophie Reavis supposed to be a beast OH?

Did UCSB find a good replacement for their middle that graduated. Seems like she was the only key loss for the program. IMO, UCSB is the team to beat in conference and they could be a real tough match for many quality teams outside the conference. Gauchos should have a great year.

this is interesting hire, definitely going with experience/familiarity in the SFValley to Bakersfield area. he's 61, so this looks like a 5 year type of plan and then wonder if he'll groom an eventual successor.

CSUN will definitely need strong assistants for both volleyball programs. The coach splitting time will need to delegate a lot of responsibilities while the other program is in season. CSUN has been a solid mid tier conference member in the past and hopefully he can bring the program up to a level that can help the conference in RPI.

Looks like UCD is the first to post their 2022 schedule And they’re going against Oregon and Texas! That’ll be some nice wins for sure for the big west if they pull that off!

I had high hopes for UCD a couple of years ago. The program looked like it was building but it now looks like they lost some of their momentum.

She's the only Big West player selected to train with the US Women's Collegiate National Team this past March. Expecting a breakout season from Poly's Stockham, but Ohwobete we'll be right up there as well.

However, the winner is usually on the champion's team and IMO Hawaii is not the favorite there. I have UCSB as the favorite and if one of the Gaucho's players have a stand out year they will probably receive the award.

Van Sickle was the best passer on the team last season (2.29). Ikenaga passed a 2.17, Wagoner passed a 2.13, Edmonds passed a 2.02 at Michigan State and Cowell passed a 1.84 at Saint Mary's. With BVS passing, Igiede took 639 swings in 2021. With Cowell or Edmonds passing it could be tough for Igiede to have POY numbers.

Edmond’s and Cowell’s numbers are both from conferences that are waaay better competition-wise from top to bottom, than the Big West, especially Edmonds. So I don’t see how those numbers doesn’t translate to better passing in the Big West.

So I don’t see how those numbers doesn’t translate to better passing in the Big West. That assumption is not necessarily true. Tommi Stockham passed better in the B1G than the BW. Hawaii is always competitive and Edmonds has solid technique but Cowell is not a good passer and will be the serving target when she's passing.
